MEDIA SHARE Set Up Guide for PCs with Windows 7 AT&T Media Share allows you to view photos and listen to music files that are stored on your PC on your U-verse-connected TV. In order to share photo and music files, you ll need to enable sharing. You may either use an Installation Wizard provided by AT&T that will guide you in setting up your PC or you may manually set up media sharing. If you choose to use the Installation Wizard, download it from http://support.att.com/mediashare. If you choose to configure manually, this Set Up Guide provides instructions on how to set up the feature as well as how to use it. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Your computer must be running Windows 7, XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista. This Guide is for Windows 7. Your computer must be connected to the Residential Gateway by either cable or wireless. Visit this site to learn how to connect your PC to the Residential Gateway: http://att.com/support_media/images/pdf/uverse/connect_uverse.pdf Windows Media Player 11 (WMP 11) must be installed on your computer. It can be downloaded free of charge from: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx Third-party firewalls may need to be configured to allow Media Share. If you are using a third party firewall, please consult your firewall documentation for appropriate configuration information. SUPPORTED FILE FORMATS U-verse Media Share only supports photos and music in certain file formats. These are: PHOTOS MUSIC PLAYLISTS.jpeg.jpg.wma.mp3.wpl.w3u 2008 AT&T Intellectual Property. NOTES If you have multiple user accounts on your Windows 7 computer with photos and music you would like to share, you will have to log on to each account and run the wizard or set up each user separately in order stream all of your photos and music from that computer. It may take a while for Media Share to display all of the files on your TV for PC folders with a large amount of content. Please be patient while Media Share accesses and displays your personal media. STEP 1 On the U-verse TV access the Media Share Application. Press the MENU button on the U-verse remote control, scroll right to the Interactive heading, select Media Share, and then press the OK button. Repeat this step for all U-verse TVs where you want to access your media. A list of PCs in the house with media sharing enabled will be displayed. Use the UP or DOWN button to select the computer to be accessed, and then press the OK button. You may find that none of your PCs are currently enabled and an information screen appears indicating that the U-verse Receiver could not find a computer to access the files. Proceed to STEP 2 to enable sharing.

STEP 2 Here is what you need to do to set it up: 1. Go to the computer 2. Launch Windows Media Player by clicking on the shortcut on the desktop 3. In Windows Media Player, click on the Stream button 4. In the Stream menu, click on Turn on media streaming 5. A new window will appear. Click on Turn on media streaming

A new window will appear. Click on the OK button You ve completed the setup on your computer and can now enjoy your media on your TV NOTE: Media Share will only play those music files that are not copyright protected (songs uploaded to your PC from CDs can be played, but those downloaded via an online music store cannot be played due to Digital Rights Management restrictions).

USING MEDIA SHARE On the U-verse TV access the Media Share application. Press the MENU button on the U-verse remote control, scroll right to the Interactive heading, select Media Share, and then press the OK button. A list of PCs in the house with media sharing enabled will be displayed. Use the UP or DOWN button to select the computer to be accessed, and then press the OK button. If no Windows Media Connect servers are available, an information screen appears indicating that the U-verse Receiver could not find a computer to access the files from. Make sure the computers to be accessed are turned on and media sharing is enabled. Return to STEP 2 in the set up instructions for further information on enabling media sharing on the PC.

TO VIEW PHOTOS Use the Up and Down buttons on the remote control, and then press the OK button to select a photo category. Use the UP and DOWN buttons on the remote control to scroll through the photos/folders. Press the OK button to display an individual photo or a photo playlist. Media Share will automatically transition to the next photo. If you would like the image to remain on the TV, press the Pause button. TO PLAY MUSIC To play music by Album, Artist, or Playlist, use the Up and Down buttons on the remote control to highlight that choice and press OK. To play the music files by another topic, select Music and press OK.

TO PLAY MUSIC AND VIEW PHOTOS AT THE SAME TIME After either a photo album or music choice has been selected, press the BACK key on your remote control until you reach the main menu and select the other media to play. This media cannot be the same type as the previous selection or it will replace what was previously chosen. Note Pressing the MENU key will exit the viewer from the photos/music selected.

TROUBLESHOOTING If Media Share is not recognizing your PC, there may be an issue with the computer s firewall settings. Please consult your firewall documentation for appropriate configuration information. When accessing a folder with a large amount of photos or music, Media Share may take some time to load them. Please be patient. When playing a photo slideshow, larger sized photos may take longer to be transferred to the TV. This may give the appearance that some photos are not displayed as long as others. Music CDs that are inserted into your PC cannot be played over Media Share. Only content on the PC drives may be played over Media Share. If you have multiple user accounts on your Windows XP computer with photos and music you would like to share, you will have to log on to each account and run the wizard or set up each user separately in order stream photos and music from that computer.
