I cut my teeth in dinghy sailing as a very small boy and have followed a path on the ocean wave since being able to start my career as a Shipwright Boatbuilder when leaving school and choosing the traditional Apprenticeship route to further education. In this time I have gained an extensive all-round knowledge of the boating industry and through my passion for yachts have been fortunate to travel the world aboard them. I have been involved in full commissioning and refit programs for large charter companies and private projects alike. I have performed in house project management of many maintenance & refit projects including large ABS class surveys. With my employment history I have gained a healthy marine engineering knowledge and have a strong hands on approach to my work. I have Captained Charter and Private yachts in a variety of international destinations with an in-depth knowledge and love of those local waters and cultures. I have an impressive track record with client and guest satisfaction in the large sailing yacht charter world and have cruised with many high profile clientele. I have a credible amount of Blue-water sea-time in command situations and have subsequently logged well in excess of 150,000 nautical miles. I am also a fully qualified Shipwright. I am considered by my employers and piers as one of the industries professionals. I am as comfortable on the Bridge of a Super-yacht as I am knocking around in the boatyard workshop and adore classic boat restoration of any size. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY July 2004 Oct 2011 S/Y Freedom 37Mt S+S Ketch I was in Full time command of this vessel operating a very busy luxury commercial charter schedule on a Worldwide Cruising itinerary under Perini Navi USA charter clearing house. The vessel operated with 6 full time crew and had a very busy Owner and Corporate schedule. I managed a very busy maintenance and management program with this vessel, keeping a 25 Year old classic Yacht up to date with 2011 maritime standards. Full and rewarding maintenance and refit schedules were performed over the time aboard and I completely self managed Freedom s Special ABS Survey Hull 4 (20 year special) and spent a rewarding amount of time working with Flag State to provide just the very highest of commercial charter standards for the yacht. April 2004 S/Y Red Dragon 45 Mt Ed Dubois custom sloop. I was requested to stand in as delivery Captain for this vessel taking her across the Pacific Ocean from the Galapagos Islands to Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia August 2000 March 2004 S/Y Julie Marie / Solaris 70 custom pilothouse sloop. I Captained this privately owned sloop cutter designed by Douglas Peterson. I joined the boat in Northern Italy and supervised the final stages of her refit. Since then we have extensively cruised the Caribbean and the Eastern seaboard of the United States from New York to Maine. In June 2003 we raced her from Newport Rhode Island to Hamburg Germany in the Daimler Chrysler North Atlantic challenge. I logged 27,000 Bluewater Ocean miles aboard this vessel. January 1997 August 2000 S/Y Lady C I have been involved in this yacht from its conception and was posted in Sweden from the beginning of the build to oversee production as the owner s representative. Since her launch I have personally logged 17,500 Nm with cruises ranging from Northwestern Sweden to Turkey, The West Indies and back to the Mediterranean. February - November 1996 Sunworld Sailing Position CHARTER CAPTAIN Responsible for the operation of an eleven yacht fleet incorporating complete refit and maintenance programs. Budgeting and costing of all local spares and finally the day to day running of the holiday program accommodating 40 guests per fortnight. August - September 1995 El Torito (22m Diving /Research) Position FIRST MATE Aiding the skipper in all aspects of the operation and navigation of the vessel in the Cape York area of far Northern Australia. Operations in Diving, environmental impact research and fisheries studies. Our charters were of a very diverse nature accommodating everything from Turtle Tagging to Bird watching expeditions in the wild North of Australia.

Other duties included assisting the base manager with all the day to day running of the Tortola operation which in its day had a 45 Yacht fleet. December 1984 August 1989 Cockatoo Island Position APPRENTICE BOAT BUILDER In this period I served my apprenticeship of 4 years duration. Training in many facets of Boatbuilding. I studied formerly at Sydney Technical college with the finishing qualifications of Shipwright. The Dockyard was a Civil position within a very large and traditional Australian Naval Dockyard. Over the term of my traditional apprenticeship we were posted in many internships around the sectors of the shipyard. Drydocks, Submarine refit, Classic Boathouse, Lofting & Design, GRP Repair, Crane and Heavy lifting, Ship Construction just to name a few.
