Photo: Conflict Simulator Students find out how they would react when faced with potentially violent reactions from a person in crisis. The simulator, controlled by an instructor, allows students to engage in scenarios where the subject s reaction changes based on the student s approach. Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training Certificate 1-year certificate 2 semesters, beginning in September and February Both theory and extensive hands-on practice Learn how fire departments operate the kind of equipment used on the job, techniques, rescue strategies, fire apparatus operation, and emergency care for patients Courses on fire behaviour and combustion chemistry as well as hazardous material awareness Firefighter fitness training Students experience the everyday reality of firefighting by practicing skills in a burn tower Firefighter Students receive guidance on finding employment including support with résumés and job interviews that will prepare students to build a gratifying career as a firefighter Course taught to the NFPA 1001 Level I and Level II Firefighter level Graduates are eligible to write the OFM Provincial Firefighter Test Humber offers Fire and Emergency Services Specialized Rescue courses. These courses will enhance your skills and benefit you in your pursuit of a career as a firefighter. A Certificate of Participation is granted upon successful completion of each course. Third semester placement is seven weeks and takes place during the summer period (May to June) The accelerated diploma program teaches skills to effectively promote the physical, mental and emotional health of individuals with special needs Learn the stages of human development, the types of developmental disabilities and the range of available community support services for this population Build expertise in our counselling labs, which provide an ideal setting to develop abilities in working with individuals with limited verbal skills Graduates support people with intellectual disabilities, autism, physical challenges or other special needs. Transfer Agreements Bachelor of Applied Arts - Criminal Justice Griffith University, Queensland Australia Humber graduates will be considered for direct admission into the Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice program provided that all academic and other entry requirements of the Master s degree program are met. Child and Youth Worker 25 Transfer options Including Australia and USA Humber graduates with an overall GPA of 70 per cent or more will be considered for admission to Humber s Bachelor of Child and Youth Care degree program in over 25 educational institutions. Social Service Worker 25 Transfer options Including Australia and USA Humber graduates with a B average (3.0 GPA) or higher will be eligible to receive up to 45 transfer credits toward a four-year Bachelor of Social Work in over 25 educational institutions. A $95 fee (payable to Ontario Colleges) is required for each academic year and must be submitted at the time of application. Ontario Colleges receives, records and then forwards application information to the appropriate college(s) For the 2015/2016 academic year, please apply before February 1st, 2015 for equal consideration. International students can apply directly to Humber College. Step 3 All educational documents should be forwarded to ontariocolleges.ca. Grades will be transmitted electronically for all applicants currently enrolled in an Ontario high school.
