INTRODUCTION Welcome to London School of Business & Commerce. LSBC is an exciting college located on a prime site in Barking. It has been set up with the dual aims of providing quality education over a wide range of subjects relevant to today s business environment coupled with a fee structure that is reasonable, affordable and flexible enough to meet the needs of individual students. LSBC conducts an introductory orientation session for new students. This session includes student s introduction with the staff of college, its policies and general understanding of the city. London is the city for leisure and pleasure. It is famous for its historical architecture, landmarks, first class libraries, fabulous academic institutions, national parks, sport stadia, giant shopping malls, picnic points, restaurants, clubs and of course the learning environment through multiculturalism. The students at LSBC get the opportunity to excel in their skills and enhance their lives in area of interest. 5

From a career perspective, London has a competitive environment comprising of a large number of leading companies and organization. Nonetheless, potential students can make a difference in all walks of life. We value your choice to be part of LSBC. Getting Around Travelling around London is very simple. There are many forms of travel; trains, tubes, buses, coaches, river boats, taxis and trams. Transport in London is at the forefront of public services. There are many interconnecting links, with many alternative routes to reach the same venue and it is virtually impossible to get lost in London. Transport is fast, clean and regular. The tubes start running at 6 am and finish after 12 midnight. Buses continue throughout the night. Coaches are a cheaper alternative for long distance travel particularly for out of London excursions. Ticket prices can be expensive, but there are many discounts available for various categories of travellers It is not advisable to travel by car in London particularly in central regions due to the large volume of vehicles within the city, in some cases journeys can take far longer than trains and tubes, it is also far more expensive. 6

LSBC Assessment Mission: LSBC is committed to implementing an assessment plan that will produce clear evidence of student learning. The institution will guide and support learning facilitators in the systematic documentation of student learning and will disseminate such documentation to both the College community and the community at large. LSBC Assessment Definition: Assessment is a purposeful, systematic, and collaborative process driven by the institution's desire to improve student learning. It is a deliberate course of action that defines expected student achievement in terms of learning outcomes and core competencies and measures actual student achievement using predetermined internal standards and external benchmarks. The goal of assessment is to transform the institution into one which creates the best conditions for learning, encourages best practices, and inspires creativity and innovation. All new students can enrol personally with London School of Business & Commerce by fulfilling the following requirements: 1. Complete College Application Form. 2. Original Academic Certificates. 3. Original passport with a valid visa stamp (if non-eu student). 4. Most recent examination results 5. Personal Statement 6. Two passport sized photos (one for the Application Form and the other one for the Student ID card) 7. Proof of English Language Proficiency (if non EU students) Once a student has fulfilled all the above requirements, after receiving these, we will organize a time to interview you either face-to-face. Once a place has been offered, you will have to confirm your acceptance by a specific date, which will be contained in the Letter of Acceptance. 8

You will be asked to pay a minimum 50% deposit in advance. Students are expected to report to the College by 9.00 am on the start date of the particular programme or course. Students Admissions Procedure for applicants LSBC is committed to welcome those students who are genuine and keen to carry on their studies without any interruption. The College requires the following documents in order to assess the application for admission. 1. Complete the "College Application Form". 2. Post the Application Form to the College together with the following documents: Attested copies of all academic certificates (student will be asked to show the originals upon his/her arrival at the college) 2 passport sized photographs Proof of English language proficiency (i.e. IELTS test mentioned on HOME OFFICE website) Copy of valid passport Evidence of funding capability Proof of working experience (if applicable) 3. On receiving the application form and other documents, the college will send a "Conditional Letter" outlining college fees and details of all further documentation required to complete the application. It depends on the student s suitability for the course. Once a student has fulfilled all the above requirements, after receiving these, we will organize a time to interview. 4. On receipt of the tuition fee, the College will issue the Confirmation letter. 5. Upon receipt of Confirmation letter, within 24 hours student need to enrol in college. 6. After enrol with college student will receive the enrolment letter. 9

FEES PAYMENT College Regulations for Payment of Fees 1. A student is not regarded as enrolled at the College unless the College requirements for the payment of fees have been met. 2. Enrolment means acceptance by the student of the College terms and conditions for payment of fees. Fee Installments Initial Deposit All students are required to pay at least 50% of the course fee as an initial deposit. The student will not be issued any documents unless the required fee has been paid. Further Installments All students who have paid 50% of the course fee are required to pay the balance fee before starting the following semester. The college will not allow a student to attend the next semester if the fee remains unpaid and no installment plan has been agreed If the fee remains unpaid, the admission may be terminated. Paying your Fees: Cheque Payment All cheques should be made payable to London School of Business & Commerce. Please write your name and student registration number on the back of the cheque. 10

Cash Payment Cash payments are accepted at the office. If you wish to pay your fees in bank, you should deposit funds at a local branch of HSBC Bank. The details are: Account Number: 32128381 Sort Code: 40-02-34 REFUND POLICY The college assumes that all prospective students will have thought long and hard about taking up a course and therefore applying for admission. However, no matter how well intentioned one is, the college understands that there are many reasons for wishing to withdraw from a course, both before and after courses have commenced. The registration fee is non-refundable and the college refund policy is as follows: Full tuition fee paid to the college will be refunded if student inform to the college in writing of withdrawal from the course 28 days before the commencement date. Who wish to withdraw from the course within 14 days of course start date are eligible for a refund which is fees paid less first term fee. After14 days of course starts date no refunds will be provided. Full fee will be refunded if the course upon which the student is enrolled is no longer offered by the college or the college doesn t offer another similar course to the student. If a student is temporarily or permanently removed from the College attendance register due to poor attendance or misconduct, no refund is applicable. No refund will be given to a student if the disruption in studies is due to his/her involvement in conviction, court proceedings or litigation. No refund will be given if any fraudulent document submitted by student. All Refunds will be made to the person or organization that initially made the payment. FACILITIES AT LSBC Library The college has a decent-size library providing access to a good range of books. Computer Services Students have access to a good number of workstations linked to the internet. The workstations can be used for a number of local applications and discipline related activities. Access to computers can be gained during college opening timings. 12

Counseling and Advice Student advisory services are available for LSBC students who require assistance regarding their course work or on suitability of a course which will be helpful in their career selection. College advisory staff is also trained to help students on issues like location of accommodation and price, difficulties in payments of fees, finding a local doctor to register with and make available suitable counsellor (with confidentiality) for social problems. LSBC staff is also happy to help you in the best possible way to guide and advise you on any of the following matters. Accommodation Service LSBC is a non-residential college but we can help our students in making arrangements for accommodations. Students must inform us at least four weeks prior to their arrival at the college. Class Rooms Facilities At LSBC, you will find excellent classrooms, Library, computer lab and a on-site cafeteria. As a student, you will definitely enjoy our friendly and congenial atmosphere with a group of highly qualified lecturers and staffs. Student Welfare Student Welfare Officer can be generally accessed through admin office of the college. Contact can be either formal (by appointment) or informal. Staff will assist in making appointment with the immediate available officer. Student Health On arrival to the college it is duty of each student to register with the nearest available GP and assistance is provided from the welfare office. The Student Welfare Officer also deals with the students with disabilities needs. 13
