!! Irish artist, John Keating Awarded Gold Medal of Honour for his Oil on Canvas Oriental Lilies at the London Olympic Fine Arts (O.F.A.) 2012 (London) at The Barbican. John Keating, Irish Artist, having been chosen to exhibit at the London Olympic Games Olympic Fine Arts (O.F.A.) 2012 (London) in the Barbican Arts Centre, has been awarded a gold medal of honour for his oil on canvas "Oriental Lilies". The theme for the Olympic Fine Arts 2012 (London) exhibition was The River Thames The Great Wall - Embrace the World. The artists were invited to interpret the spirit of the Olympic Games in their own style. Keating was also one of the Artists chosen to participate in the First Beijing International Biennale China in 2003. Keating says I consider it a great honour to have been selected once more to exhibit a work at the recent London Olympic Games 2012. Jack B Yeats, Artist (1871-1957) was a previous recipient and he was awarded a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 1924 for his painting The Liffey Swim
"Olympic Fine Arts (O.F.A.) 2012 (London)" is aimed at spreading and praising the spirit of the modern Olympic Movement and realising the ideal of harmonising coexistence and collaborative development. The event was a remarkable art festival in the modern Olympic history around the world, which was also the "Art Olympic Games". The exhibition took place under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee, and was supported by the London organising committee of the Olympic Games. It was approved by the Ministry of Culture of the People s Republic of China and supported by the China International Culture Association and Beijing Association for the promotion of Olympic Related Culture. Following on from Keating s participation in the Olympic Fine Arts (O.F.A.) 2012 (London), where he was awarded a Gold Medal of Honour, for his oil on canvas Oriental Lilies, he is currently exhibiting in the 5th edition of the Biennale titled "Stemperando" 100 works on paper by 50 invited artists from Europe, Asia, China, America, Africa, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. The exhibition tours the national libraries of Turin, Cosenza and Rome from 5 September 2012 to March 2013. The exhibition is curated by the President of the National Institute of Contemporary Art in Italy. It will finish in the Central National Library in Rome 2013. The exhibition will be visited by 40-50 thousand viewers. Keating has also been invited to participate in the forthcoming Olympic Water Cube Museum Exhibition in Beijing. 100 Artists globally have been selected for this Exhibition which will open in Beijing in mid-november, 2012.
