IB Africa, Europe and the Middle East The IB is a non-profit Swiss foundation. We cover our operating and development costs by charging fees for our services. Any surplus we make in providing these services is reinvested back into the organization in pursuit of our mission. Regional fees from September 2015 to August 2016 Currency of payment All IB World schools in IB Africa, Europe and Middle East must pay in their assigned currency. The Euro was introduced on 1 st June 2014. Application for candidacy fee This non-refundable fee is charged once and is due prior to the submission deadline of 1 st April before uploading the Application for candidacy. Late applications will be accepted before the second deadline of 1 st October. Annual Candidate fee The annual candidate fee is charged to the school for every year of candidacy until school authorization. This is to be paid by 1 st September of each candidate year. Schools applying late (between 1 st April and 1 st October) will be charged the full annual fee. If a school desires to terminate their IB candidate status the IB is must receive a formal letter, signed by the Head of School in this regard. This should be a minimum of 3 months before the termination of the billing year. This fee covers the costs associated with : - access to the Online Curriculum Center (OCC), coordinator notes, programme development and updates - advice either through the regional office or from IB approved consultants - a two-day on-site consultation visit including associated travel and incidental costs - 20 hours of remote consultancy per candidate year - the review and processing of the Application for authorization and supporting documentation - two-day on-site verification visit including associated travel and incidental costs - work associated with the visits (organisation, monitoring and follow-up) - processing of the report The fee is exclusive of accommodation required when visiting a school, which is booked and paid for by the visited school. CP Candidate fee The CP candidate fee (formerly known as IBCC) for DP and Continuum schools only, is charged to the school prior to acceptance of candidacy and is valid until school authorization. Evaluation Visit fee Evaluation Visit DP / MYP / PYP 3890 2700 4250 2240 This flat fee covers the costs associated with: - Reading of self-study and supporting documents by external readers - associated travel of 2-3 visitors - incidental costs of visiting team These costs were previously charged to schools after the visit. Following the visit there will be no recharges to schools unless exceptional circumstances occur. The fee is exclusive of accommodation required when visiting a school, which is booked and paid for by the visited school. For the DP, this fee only applies if an evaluation visit is organized. Consultation fee Consultation visit* daily fee per consultant DP / MYP / PYP 1230 860 1340 710 The daily rate per consultant fee covers: - preparation associated with the visit (organization, monitoring and follow-up) - training and honorarium of IB consultants The fee is exclusive of: - accommodation required when visiting a school, which is booked and paid for by the visited school - air transport and other means of transport, which is recharged at cost - out-of-pocket expenses incurred by the consultant, including meals, which are recharged at a flat rate** When a visit is combined with an in-school workshop, this fee will be charged only for the days of consultation. The days spent for the workshop will be charged the usual in-school per participant fee. *A consultation visit, beyond the one included in the annual candidate fee, may be requested by the school during the authorization process or suggested by the regional office. Authorized schools may also request a consultation visit. ** The consultant is reimbursed out-of-pocket expenses at a flat rate. Page 6

Workshops comprise 10 sessions of 90 minutes each over three days. Certificates of attendance for workshops will be issued to participants who attend all scheduled sessions. Fee includes: Tuition and workshop materials, lunches during the workshops (buffet lunch including vegetarian option), refreshment breaks and water during the workshops, welcome drink. Accommodation and travel expenses are not included. Note: Fees for workshops delivered by our approved PD providers may vary. The in-school workshops per participant fee covers the costs associated with the workshop (organization, monitoring and follow-up) training and honorarium of our workshop leaders and the IB's intellectual property. These fees are based on a minimum of 10 participants per workshop. Where there are fewer than 10 participants, the workshop will be charged as for 10. A Cluster event is organized for training educators in one or more workshops officially recognized by the IB at a host school s premises for at least 2 participating schools. The Cluster event option is offered to accommodate provision gaps within the AEM region where our current PD offerings do not fully meet the needs of schools. The host school receives a discounted fee and a catering subsidy. Visiting schools are charged the full fee. Fee includes: Attendance at the Regional Conference, all plenary sessions and over 100 sessions to select from, welcome reception, conference evening, all lunch & refreshment breaks. Attendance at one of the pre Conference sessions if this option is selected and available. Not included: accommodation and travel expenses. Page 10
Cancellation Fees Cancellation Fee DP / MYP / PYP / CP 950 660 1020 540 Description A verification visit, consultation visit or in-school workshop cancelled after the agreement (when regional office sends school confirmed consultants/team) has been made, will be charged this cancellation fee plus any related costs already incurred and not covered by the relevant fee. This cancellation fee also applies to programme evaluation visits. In general the following IB cancellation policy applies for Professional Development workshops: Any cancellation occurring 22 days or more prior the first day of the workshop will incur a credit note of the full amount of the registration fee. For cancellations made 21 days or less prior to the first day of the workshop, a penalty of 100% of the fee will apply. In the unlikely event that the IB has to cancel a workshop, the total amount of the registration fee will be refunded or will incur a credit note. Unconfirmed registrations will not be billed or will incur a credit note if the payment has been made. Cancellation policy will apply also in cases where a visa is refused. Further information here.
