CLAIMS SERVICE PRINCIPLES Our overriding purpose is to handle and settle claims in a manner that achieves a fair and timely resolution for our clients, both brokers and insureds. In order to achieve this we have established the following Claims Service Principles setting the PACE which clearly describe what our clients and brokers can expect and what we will deliver, whoever the claims handler, whatever the claim or class of business. We continually strive to improve our service. Your feedback is essential to ensure we continue to deliver and improve where necessary. This can be provided either via the claims broker page on our website (www.canopius.com/claimsfeedback) or directly to any member of our management team. Mike East Head of Claims Joined: 1997. We understand that building relationships and open communication are essential to achieve successful long-standing partnerships. Accessibility: we do not want our relationships with brokers to be remote, mainly via a computer screen; our adjusters are located centrally in Lloyd s and are available to see brokers on a walk-in basis or by appointment, if more convenient. Culture: we employ experienced and empowered claims professionals who are committed to agreeing and paying valid claims quickly. They are all solution-driven, decisive and focussed on the needs of brokers and our insureds, recognising the importance of keeping everyone informed of progress, especially where potential policy coverage issues may exist. Efficiency: our claims model is segmented, but integrated: the claims professionals can concentrate on adjusting claims and providing first class service to brokers and insureds, whilst our Technical Claims Services team implement all the administrative functions. We consistently outperform the market on ECF and static claims management, embrace new technologies and practices, whilst proactively seeking ways to develop our own operations. 02 03

TECHNICAL CLAIMS SERVICES Our Technical Claims Services Unit was formed in August 2010. We identified that our skilled adjusters were becoming burdened with administrative tasks that took them away from their core function of resolving claims. We created a centre of excellence to provide skilled technical support to the adjustment function across all classes of business staffed by people who are conversant with claims procedures and processes. From those beginnings the team has grown to embrace all aspects of the claims operational function, from bordereaux monitoring and processing to diary maintenance and adjuster appointments.
