Chapter 2: Transport, Unpacking and Accessories Transport Despite the robust design of the FORMULA Industrial Monitor, the components are sensitive to strong vibrations and impacts. During transport, your FORMULA should therefore be protected from excessive mechanical stress. Therefore, please use the original packaging. Danger of damage to the FORMULA! If the FORMULA is transported in cold weather or is exposed to extreme variations in temperature, make sure that moisture (condensation) does not form on or inside the FORMULA. Prior to operation, the FORMULA must be allowed to slowly adjust to room temperature. Should condensation occur, a delay time of approximately 12 hours must be allowed before the FORMULA is switched on. Unpacking Proceed as follows to unpack the FORMULA: 1. Remove packaging. 2. Do not discard the original packaging. Keep it for future relocation. 3. Check the delivery for completeness by comparing it with your order. 4. Please keep the associated paperwork. 5. Check the contents for visible shipping damage. 6. If you notice any shipping damage or inconsistencies between the contents and your order, you should notify the supplier. Accessories The following accessories are included in the accessory box: Part Description IF5M IF7M N2040120 KEY, HEXAGON SOCKET, 2.5mm, IF 1 1 N2040110 CLIP, MOUNTING, + SCREW M5/H, IF 14 16 854A0731E Formula driver CD-ROM 1 1 20919010 * Power Cord, 220V 1 1 N1370310 CABLE, VGA, 1.8m 1 1 N1370315 CABLE, DVI, 1.8m 1 1 N1370320 * CABLE, TS, USB A-B, 1.8m 1 1 N7501201 PS, 48W, FSP048-1AD101C, IFM 1 1 Notes: 1, USA/Canadian units includes 110V power cord 2, No N1370320 cable with non-touch Monitors 3, Unit with 3M Touch Screen contains Touch Screen pen 6 of 35 DOC-IWS-713A

Chapter 5: FORMULA Mounting Instructions Remove your unit from the packaging and set it up according to the instructions in this chapter. 5.1 Unit Dimensions, Cutout, Weight and Power Consumption. See for detailed information Appendixes B and C. 5.2 Installation Instructions The Nematron FORMULA industrial Monitor is designed to be mounted in a paneled enclosure or using a VESA mounting arm system. To mount the FORMULA in a panel, use the mounting clips supplied with the unit. 5.3 Vesa Mounting. Four Mounting holes are implemented for a standard VESA Mounting (arm) system. 5.4 Mounting in a Panel To mount the unit in a panel: 1. Prepare a cutout of the appropriate size, as specified in Appendix B or C. 2. Position the FORMULA Monitor in the cutout. 3. From the rear of the unit, insert the mounting clips into the slots on the top, bottom, and sides of the unit. The appropriate number of mounting clips and the required Allen wrench to tighten them are provided for each model. Installing in a Panel Using Mounting Clips 4. Using the Allen wrench supplied, tighten the mounting clip screws in a criss-cross pattern (top left, bottom right, bottom left, top right, etc.), each a little at a time until five to seven inch-pounds (0.56 0.79 Nm) of torque is reached on each screw. Do not completely tighten any one screw at one time. The result could be an inadequate seal or deformation of the front bezel. 11 of 35 DOC-IWS-713A

6.2 Supported Input Formats The Formula Monitor can support any video mode within the following input constraints: Signal sample frequency with the input 80MHz Horizontal sync frequency between 30KHz and 80KHz The modes are detected with the presentation of the input and previous alignments for setup are automatically recalled. The emulation of a true multi-sync monitor is implemented. The factory preset supported modes are as follows: Notes: 1. All mentioned modes are non-interlaced. The maximum and minimum frame rates are decided by the TFT- LCD. 2. Factory preset modes are overwritten by additional user alignments for automatic recall. The factory preset modes can be recalled at any time. 13 of 35 DOC-IWS-713A

Chapter 8: FORMULA Maintenance 8.1 Replacing the Backlights The life-time rating on LCD backlights are defined as the number of hours of operation until they are at half of their original brightness. The FORMULA Monitor backlights are rated at 40,000 hours this equates to approximately five years of continuous service. Signs that the backlights may need replacing include: 1. The top and/or the bottom of the screen are dim. 2. The brightness of the image on the screen flickers. 3. The video appears to be blank in normal light, but can be very faintly seen in strong external light. Replacing of the backlights: 1. Disconnect the cables from their connectors 2. At the cable end of each back light, remove a small portion of the foam strip to access the retaining screw. 3. Remove the retaining screw for each backlight 4. Remove the backlight by careful pulling them out. Backlight replacement kits are available from Nematron. Please contact Nematron for details. Rework instructions are included with the backlight replacement kit. 27 of 35 DOC-IWS-713A
