How to use Backitup Modify Existing Schedule jobs 1. To Launch Nero StartSmart: Click on Start>All Programs> Nero, and select Nero StartSmart.
2. The Nero StartSmart will open. 3. Click on the Copy and Backup category icon (fifth from the left) and select the Schedule Backups task.
4. The Welcome to the Nero Job Scheduling Wizard window will open. Click Next to proceed to the next step to begin the job scheduling process. The data you want to schedule for back up can be stored in any of the following locations: Hard disk Network (LAN) CD or DVD Image recorder
5. The Job Source window will open. In this window you can modify an existing job, or select some new data for a backup job. Be sure to select the Use existing backup option. (Note: If you have a backup on a CD or DVD, place this in the recorder and use the Other Backup feature to search for and select this backup from the CD or DVD, or even from a Network drive.) Select files and folders option is used for creating a new scheduled job. Use existing backup option will allow you to select and modify pervious backup jobs, located on your systems hard drive, for scheduled backups. Other backup option allows you to select previous backup jobs stored in different locations such as CD/DVD Recorder or Network drives.
6. The Select files and Folders window will open. Select the data to be backed up from any list of files provided in the window. Click Next to proceed to the next step. (Note: You do not need to select all the data contained in the previous backup for this new backup if you do not wish to do so.) Selected folders will display the number of folders selected for backup. Selected files will display the number of files selected for backup. Selected size will give the total size of the backup including all files, folders and drives. Note: The left pane of the browser will display the drive and folder, while the right pane of the browser will display the contents of the highlighted folder.
7. The Backup Settings window will open. Select the backup Target, Backup type, and File filter. Click Next to proceed to the next step. Target setting will give the option to backup to a CD/DVD Recorder, mapped network drives, system drives, and the Nero image recorder. Backup type provides various backup modes. Please click the info button for more details. File filter setting will give the option to include or exclude file types. You can create your own filters, or use predefined filters. Compress files before backup will give you the option to compress files or not to compress files. Set by default to compress files. Verify data after backup will verify the data after the data has been burn to disc. The program will verify each disc before requesting the next disc to burn too, during a disc spanning backup job. Set by default to verify data. Use 8.3 file names for backup will give you the option to display the backup file names using the 8.3 file name or display the full file names. Set by default to the 8.3 file names. (For Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98x we recommend disabling this option to allow long file names.) User Password gives the option for passwords only for compressed backup jobs. The password option has a minimum 6 characters.
8. The Select Target Location window will open. Select where you wish to store the backup, such as CD/DVD or Hard Drive. Give it a new name and modify the comments about this new backup. Click Next to proceed to the next step. Target Path allows you to select where you wish to write the backup too, such as CD/DVD Recorder or the Hard Drive. Backup name will display the name of the backup to be created by the BackItUp program. Comment option will display important notes you may wish to enter about the backup job.
9. The Job Information window will open. Here you need to provide a Job name; select Job type (Daily, Weekly, Single Date); and Start Date/Time. Click Next to proceed to the next step. Job Name will display a job name for the scheduled job. Job type feature will configure how often the scheduled job is to occur. Start On will setup the start Date and time for the scheduled job.
10. The Completing the Job Scheduling Wizard window will open. Verify schedule settings, (If recording to a CD/DVD recorder) place media into the recorder and Click Finish. 11. The Nero Backup will remain open, click the Close in the upper right hand corner to return to the Nero StartSmart.
Important Note 1: The job scheduler will create a Nero BackItUp job scheduler icon in the Window systray. Zoom Shot
