ZyXEL IAD P Quick Installation Guide.Contents: This is what you need Ethernet Cable Two telephone Cables Installation CD Quick Installation Guide Two MicroFilters Power Adaptor.Overview This Quick Installation Guide is designed to help you set up the IAD P. The IAD P is an ADSL+ router with a built in -port switch and VoIP integrated access device (IAD). It also can expand your wired network by providing IEEE.g wireless access.the Installation CD provides an audiovisual illustration of the installation process. A comprehensive manual for the IAD P is also included on the Installation CD for help on more advanced configurations. The IAD P series can also be set up to use regular phone services which do not use the Internet. Note: The screens in this guide reflect the IAD P model. The following figure shows how your IAD P (A) connects your network to the Internet and provides firewall protection. It also shows how your device can make VoIP calls and calls to regular phones. PSTN DSL Internet.Requirements Make sure you have the following before you set up your IAD P. High speed ADSL service has to be available on the telephone. Internet access - account information provided by your ISP, such as user name, password.
a. Installation Procedure (Using the Installation CD) Warning: This CD-ROM is only compatible with the following Operating Systems: Windows XP, Windows, Windows ME, and Windows SE. Ensure you have minimum Internet Explorer. or Netscape Navigator. or later, with JavaScript enabled. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD should auto-start. If it does not start, click on Start -> Run and type in CD:\ P.exe (where CD is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive.) Click on the Start Installation and follow the instructions as per audiovisual illustration. b.installation Procedure (Non Windows users) Power Reset Button Power Button DSL ON OFF POWER RESET Antenna Ethernet DSL ETHERNET PHONE Phone ON OFF POWER RESET DSL ETHERNET LI NE LINE LI NE PHONE LI NE Microfilter PHONE Telephone Wall Socket Power Adaptor Ethernet Cable Telephone DSL: Use the gray ADSL cable to connect the DSL telephone outlet. LINE:All Existing telephone points need a micro filter. This include fax machines, answering machines and ALARM DIALERS Note: When the IAD P does not have power, the phone connected to the PHONE Port can not be used for making calls. Ensure that you know which phone is connected to the PHONE port as this phone could still be used in case of emergency. ETHERNET ~: Use Ethernet cables to connect computers to this port for initial configuration and/or Internet access.
PHONE -: Use a telephone cable to connect your telephones to these ports. If you only have one telephone, you should use port. POWER: () Connect the power adaptor's cable to the device's "POWER" socket. () Connect the power adaptor to an AC power outlet. () Switch on the mains power outlet Push in the POWER button. Look at the lights on either side of the IAD P. The POWER light blinks during start-up and is green once the IAD P is ready. Each ETHERNET light turns on if the corresponding ETHERNET port is properly connected. The lights blink when the IAD P is sending or receiving data through the corresponding ETHERNET port. The DSL light stays on if a physical connection with the ISP is established. The INTERNET light stays on when Internet access is available. The PHONE lights stay on when your VOIP account is registered and they blink if the receiver is off the hook. The WLAN light turns on when the wireless LAN is ready. It blinks when the IAD P is If the PHONE or PHONE light is on, go to Section. to see how to make calls through the Internet. If the INTERNET light comes on but the PHONE lights are off, go to Section. and use the VOIP SETUP wizard. If the INTERNET light is off but the DSL light is on, go to Section. and use the INTERNET SETUP wizard to configure your Internet access settings. If the lights are different than described, go to Troubleshooting..Initial Configuration (Non windows users / advanced users) Note: In order to ensure connection to the device, the IP address on the PC should be configured to be obtained automatically. For assistance, refer to Appendix B (Setting up your Computer's IP Address) in the manual on the CD:\Manual\Manual.pdf ADSL Service Verification Verification of your ADSL service is required to ensure correct installation of the IAD P and for activation of the ADSL service on the phone line. Open the following link in your web browser: https://secure.telkom.co.za/app/verifyadsl/ Simply enter the phone number in the required window of the page that opens and follow the instructions. Note: Please ensure that any popup management software is configured to ALLOW POPUPS during the configuration process of the IAD P. Enter the password admin. Then, click Login. Open your browser, and go to http://... http://... if your browser cannot find this screen, make sure your browser is configured correctly. See Troubleshooting in the User's Guide for details. Follow the directions in this screen. Click Go to Wizard setup. Then, click Apply.
. Internet/Wireless Setup Note: You should have the information provided by your ISP. Telkom uses VPI =, VCI =, Multiplexing = LLC. For quick Internet access Telkom recommends to use PPPoE Encapsulation Click INTERNET/WIRELESS SETUP. Wait while the P tries to detect your Internet connection. If the P cannot detect your Internet connection, follow the directions. Enter the information provided by your ISP. Keep the default settings if your ISP did not provide some information. Make sure your wireless security settings are compatible with your existing wireless devices. See the User's Guide for more information on wireless networks. When your Internet connection is setup correctly, the INTERNET light on the modem should be green and confirmation will be given by the wizard. For wireless configuration of the IAD, refer to the manual on the CD (cd:\manual\manual.pdf). The P is pre-configured for wireless access and the default WPA key is printed on the label on the base of the device. Follow the instruction of the Wireless vendor for configuration of the wireless on your computer, or refer to the Wireless Assistance Guide on the CD. (CD:\Manual\Wireless assistance guide.pdf). VoIP Setup (Optional) Voice-over Internet Protocol. This technology allows voice conversations to be carried over the Internet as opposed to traditional phone lines. In order to utilise the VOIP feature, you must register with a VOIP service provider. For Telkom's VOIP service, open the following link in your web browser https://ticomm.telkomsa.net/voip/registration/regauth.jsp Click VOICE OVER INTERNET SETUP Note: You should have the information provided by your VoIP service provider. Enter the information provided by your VoIP service provider. Keep the default settings if your VoIP service provider did not provide some information. If you have a SIP account like @VoIP-provider.com, the SIP Number is, and the SIP Service Domain is VoIP-provider.com. When you are done, the PHONE light should be on. Close the Wizard and the main screen opens.
. Regular Phone Line Setup When one of your VoIP accounts is registered, the P normally uses the Internet (not the regular phone line) to make phone calls. Follow the directions in this section to make sure you can also use the regular phone line while one of your VoIP accounts is registered. Note: When the IAD P does not have power, the phone connected to the PHONE Port can not be used for making calls. Ensure that you know which phone is connected to the PHONE port as this phone could still be used in case of emergency. On the web page menu, click VoIP > PSTN Line. PSTN Line Pre-fix Number: If you want to make a regular phone call while one of your SIP accounts is registered. Enter a prefix number ( to digits long) in the PSTN Line Prefix Number field. These numbers tell the ZyXEL devic that you want to make a regular phone call. Relay to PSTN Line: Enter phone numbers for regular phone calls (that do not use the Internet) that you always want to dial without the prefix number. For example, enter emergency phone numbers here. Click Apply.. Phone Calls When a PHONE light turns on, your VOIP account is registered successfully. Dial a numerical VOIP number (like " for example) on your phone's keypad. Use your voice service provider's dialing plan to make calls through the Internet to regular telephone numbers. See your User s Guide for other calling options..troubleshooting If you cannot access the Internet, follow these steps.. Check the device's lights. If they are different than what is described in Section, turn off the device, make sure the connections are correct, and inspect your cables for damage. Turn the device on again.. Follow the steps in Section. again. Make sure you enter the correct information. For example, if your account has a user name and password, make sure you type it correctly. In addition, if you are not sure which encapsulation your ISP uses, contact your ISP.. If you are using a new Internet account, contact your ISP to make sure it is active.. If you still have problems, see Troubleshooting in the User s Guide. If you can access the Internet, but you cannot make calls through the Internet, follow these steps.. Check the PHONE lights. If neither of them is on, make sure that your telephone is connected to the corresponding PHONE port.. Make sure the VOICE OVER INTERNET SETUP wizard screens are properly configured (see Section.).. You can also check the VoIP status in the Status screen. See the User s Guide for more information about this screen.
