Deadline: Current graduate students enrolled in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Education must submit this application no later than March 1. Current graduate students who already have a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant position must resubmit a new application each year, to be considered for the following year. Applicants to the graduate program must submit their Teaching Assistant / Research Assistant application along with their application materials by the February 15 Priority Deadline. (Priority Deadline for all departmental financial support, including fellowships, is January 15.) Applicants must be applying for either the Masters or Doctoral program to be considered for a TA or RA position. These appointments are generally made for a full academic year, September through May provided the student successfully fulfills the duties of a TA and maintains good standing in the Graduate School. Notice of official denial of graduate admission constitutes notice of denial of this application. For the new openings additionally available in the Spring and Summer semesters, your application automatically will be considered; however, for consideration for the following Fall, a new application must be filed. Selection of teaching assistants is by the faculty who work in the area of specialization. TA applicants are rank-ordered by the faculty in their area of specialization. Each area of specialization then presents a rank-ordered list to the departmental chairperson for final selection. A student who is seeking a TA position may want to work closely with the faculty in the area of specialization. Research assistants are selected by individual faculty members whose research grants and contracts fund the RA position. Students interested in RA positions should contact the individual faculty members. Student employment is often available through the Division of Recreational Sports or Intercollegiate Athletics Department. If interested, please contact their personnel offices for an application.
