Training Courses To support the software we have introduced a new certification Gauging with. This is equivalent to the Basic and Professional certifications for ClearRoute Classic. It covers how to use the software as well as the principles of gauging and how to apply these using. The certification is recognised by Network Rail and is valid for a period of two years. Certification can be registered in the software so that all plots confirm the user s certification status. There are four ways to obtain this certification which are summarised in the table below. Gauging with Complete Course The Gauging with Course is ideal for all users new to ClearRoute and gauging. It includes the main currently available functionality (excluding vehicle creation) as well as giving a good introduction to gauging principles and current UK gauging standards. The course consists of explanations and demonstration of the software. There are also practical exercises throughout the course. Formal assessment is included and successful delegates receive a certificate as well as a certification CLP file to install in. This three day course runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm each day. The price has been held the same as the Basic ClearRoute course for ClearRoute Classic. Infrastructure - issues that affect gauging from the Infrastructure point of view. Topics include: survey methods, plane of rail and true xy, track fixity and track tolerances Vehicles - looking at gauging from the vehicle perspective, focusing on aspects of vehicles that affect clearances. The Gauging with Refresher Course includes the following activities: A verbal question and answer session Written exercises Practical exercises Assessment Gauging with Assessment Only For experienced ClearRoute users, Balfour Beatty Rail offers the Gauging with Assessment without the course. The assessment takes a maximum of three hours and successful delegates are awarded the same certification as those who have attended the Gauging with Course. As an alternative to coming to Matlock, assessments can be taken on line using WebEx technology. You can access our training computers from your own office so that the trainer can watch you carrying out the practical exercises. The theory questions are also done electronically via WebEx. On-line assessments save travelling time and expenses and are therefore more cost effective and environmentally friendly. Using Tilting Trains with Certification The Using Tilting Trains with Certification provides an understanding of how titlting trains behave differently from conventional trains and how this should be taken into account when gauging. The course also covers how to use current tilting train models. This is an essential course of anyone using tilting train models in. The certification covers the following areas: Reasons for tilting trains Operational models including active, passive and failed Compensating for Tilt Lead and Lag Use of current Tilting Train Vehicle Models in : Virgin Pendolino - Class 390 and Virgin Super Voyager - Class 221 To initally gain the certification delegates should attend the Using Tilting Trains with course. The certification can then be renewed by attending the Using Tilting Trains with Assessment.
