C. ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY All athletes must comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force, including but not limited to, Rule 41 (Nationality of Competitors). Only those athletes who have complied with the Olympic Charter may participate in the Olympic Games. Additional IF Requirements: To be eligible to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, all athletes must: - have reached the minimum technical standard established by FIG. Full information regarding the minimum technical standards is available on the FIG official website (www.fig-gymnastics.com.) - hold a valid FIG License until the end of the 2016 Olympic Games Trampoline Gymnastics competitions. In addition, NOCs must have participated in the 2015 World Championships and/or the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event for their gymnasts to be eligible to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. For places obtained through the Continental representation criteria, the Host Country place or the Tripartite Commission Invitation place, the gymnast who obtains the quota place must have participated in the 2015 World Championships and/or the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event to be eligible. D. QUALIFICATION PATHWAY QUALIFICATION PLACES The qualification events are listed in hierarchical order of qualification. MEN / WOMEN A gymnast can only obtain one (1) quota place for his/her NOC. Number of Quota Places per Gender 14-16 2015 World Championships Participation rights: Unlimited NOC participation Qualification Events Quota Place Allocated to: NOC Qualification places: Gymnasts ranked 1 st to 8 th, as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking results of the Finals will each qualify one (1) quota place for their NOC, with a maximum of two (2) gymnasts per NOC. 2016 Olympic Games Test Event Participation rights: Participation in the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event will be limited to: 16 male and 16 female gymnasts as follows: 1) 12 male and 12 female gymnasts, with a maximum two (2) male and two (2) female gymnasts per NOC (not nominative), to participate as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking of the Qualifying Round from the 2015 World Championships. 2) Men s and Women s individual gold, silver and bronze medalists of the Finals from the 2015 World Championships to NOC Page 2/5
participate. As these gymnasts will already be qualified for the Rio Games, their results will not be considered for the purpose of qualification. 3) Host Country (not nominative) to participate with one (1) male gymnast OR one (1) female gymnast, if not already included in the above places. The best ranked gymnasts (man OR woman) as per the Men s OR Women s Individual ranking of the Qualifying Round from the 2015 World Championships will participate. Should the Host Country be included within the above mentioned places, the next best ranked eligible NOC as per the Men s or Women s individual ranking of the Qualifying Round from the 2015 World Championships will participate. For all above scenarios, NOCs already qualified through the 2015 World Championships cannot participate in the 2016 Test Event, with the exception of those mentioned under point (2) above. Qualification places: Gymnasts ranked 1 st to 5 th, as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round will each qualify one (1) quota place for their NOC, with a maximum of one (1) gymnast per NOC. Continental representation The minimum Continental representation (including the Host Country place and the Tripartite Commission place) should be at least one (1) quota place for Men OR Women in four (4) continents. If the minimum Continental representation is neither guaranteed after the 2015 World Championships nor after the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event the best ranked male gymnasts OR the best ranked female gymnast of the Continent(s) which is/are not appropriately represented as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round from the 2015 World Championships will obtain a quota place allocated by name. Athlete Remaining quota: Further to the allocation of the Host Country place, the Continental place(s) and the Tripartite Commission place, the remaining quota places will be allocated to the athletes from the next best ranked eligible NOCs as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round from the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event, in order to complete the quota of 16 athletes per gender. The tie breaking rules set out in the FIG Technical Regulations will be applied. Page 3/5
HOST COUNTRY PLACES The Host Country is guaranteed a maximum of one (1) quota place across both genders (one (1) male OR one (1) female gymnast) if not qualified through other criteria. If the presence of the Host Country is neither guaranteed after the 2015 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event, the best ranked eligible gymnast from the Host NOC (man OR woman) as per the Men s OR Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round from the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event will obtain the quota place allocated by name. In case of a tie between the best ranked male and female eligible gymnast form the Host NOC, the quota place will be given to the gender with the highest total number of participants as per the Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round from the 2015 World Championships. TRIPARTITE COMMISSION INVITATION PLACE One (1) Tripartite Commission Invitation Place allocated by name is made available to one (1) male gymnast OR one (1) female gymnast at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, provided that the gymnast has participated in the qualifying round of the 2015 World Championships and/or of the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event and has met the eligibility criteria as described in paragraph C. Athlete Eligibility. On 15 October 2015, the International Olympic Committee will invite all eligible NOCs to submit their requests for Tripartite Commission Invitation Places. The deadline for NOCs to submit their requests is 15 January 2016. The Tripartite Commission will confirm, in writing, the allocation of invitation places to the relevant NOCs after the end of the qualification period for the concerned sport. E. CONFIRMATION PROCESS FOR QUOTA PLACES Following each qualification event, FIG will publish the results on its website at www.fig-gymnastics.com. After the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event FIG will inform the respective NOCs of their allocated quota places. Following receipt of the confirmation from FIG, the NOCs will then have two (2) weeks to confirm if they wish to use these quota places, as detailed in paragraph G. Qualification Timeline. After this deadline, unused quota places will be reallocated as per the procedure as per the procedure defined in paragraph F. Reallocation of Unused Quota Places. F. REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUOTA PLACES REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUALIFICATION PLACES Individual places In case a qualified NOC decides not to use its quota place for any reason, the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC, as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event, will obtain the quota place. If not applicable the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC, as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2015 World Championships will qualify. Page 4/5
Continental places In case a qualified NOC decides not to use a quota place obtained through the continental quota the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC from the same continent (best ranked male or female gymnast) as per the Men s OR Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2015 World Championships will obtain the quota place. If not applicable, the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC (best ranked male or female gymnast regardless of the Continent) as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event will obtain the quota place. REALLOCATION OF UNUSED HOST COUNTRY PLACE In the case the Host Country does not use its quota place the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC (best ranked male or female gymnast) as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event will obtain the quota place. Should this decision affect the minimum continental requirements, the place will be allocated to the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round from the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event that ensures the minimum continental representation. If not applicable the athlete from the next best ranked eligible NOC, as per the respective Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2015 World Championships will qualify. REALLOCATION OF UNUSED TRIPARTITE COMMISSION INVITATION PLACE If the Tripartite Commission is not able to allocate the Tripartite Commission Invitation Place, the male gymnast or female gymnast from the next best ranked eligible NOC as per the Men s and Women s Individual ranking results of the Qualifying Round of the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event will obtain the quota place. G.
