Tarihçe-- History INARK is a Turkish Italian company established in Izmir in 2011, is born by fusion of two professional Italian engineering and architectural companies with Turkish engineers and supervisors. Although just established, INARK standing on the shoulders of fifty years of experience in various structural and civil engineering work. In fact, during the sixties Italian companies began to operate in their own country in Architectural and Engineering consulting services for Public Administration and Private Investors. During these years both of the partners have gathered their experience and have grown up through the continuous demand from architects and engineers by the developing societies of the second half of the 20th century. Both of the partners of INARK are still active today in Italy, owned and governed by the 2nd generation of the original founders. Now, we are one of leading companies in Italy in seismic engineering and assessment field with strong connections in offices such as Civil Defense Network, Hospitals Network, Infrastructural Network in Italy. During the past 10 years, the interest for foreign markets has increased and this brought the opportunity for a cooperation with Turkish engineers and Turkish Universities in the field of seismic engineering and all other related technical aspects to share knowledge and serve the ever increasing needs of Turkish society during their race for their bright future. INARK is the result of this cooperation and offers to the Turkish engineering and architectural market a multitude of consultancy services. Our field of expertise has a broad spectrum ranging from general integrated architectural and civil engineering consulting services to specialized seismic engineering services such as earthquake resistant design, base isolation (earthquake isolation), dampers, retrofitting and seismic vulnerability assesment of existing structures and infrastructures. INARK provides thorough her skilled technical staff a high standard consultancy services in civil/structural and architectural projects, design, feasibility studies, and work supervision supporting the clients needs from the beginning of the process till the end whilst in searching and realizing the best possible solutions. An organic connection with architectural and engineering research world gives INARK, the possibilities to be always the forerunner in new technologies and constructional materials. The last but not the least, INARK also has a broad knowledge in old and traditional construction materials and techniques, giving her the ability to identify the best way to proceed in retrofitting, repairing, and restoration of historical buildings which are invaluable for our common world heritage. For us Architecture and Engineering are the instruments to achieve high living standards for a better world, through merging knowledge, technology, and experience to change things for good and for all. Nothing is a new creation, nothing can be totally destroyed, but things can be always refined on. That is our philosophy. 5 INARK Engineering Architecture and Consultancy

Deprem Mühendisliği -- Seismic Engineering INARK is unique in its seismic design and analysis capabilities. Our portfolio projects spans several sectors using always the most appropriate materials. In all our work, we follow two main principles: a performance-based approach using advanced analytical techniques to provide cost efficient solutions for complex design projects and a coordination among various involved entities to ensure that the civil/structural work is in harmony with all the elements setforth in design. All our efforts aim to provide innovative solutions satisfying every need and create new benchmarks. The company has designed numerous structures in high seismic zones and performed nonlinear, linear, static, and dynamic seismic analyses of complex structures. We have been always attentive to the world of research and new technological developments, a constant relationship with the academic world, has allowed the possibility to apply in real world the latest scientific discoveries and technologies. INARK provides seismic design and analysis for all types of buildings ranging in different sizes and complexities, and implements the appropriate use of sophisticated analysis tools in order to achieve the most costeffective design solutions for building owners, architects, developers, and contractors. By combining our practical experience with our research expertise, we continue to provide the highest level of seismic design and analysis for new structures and the seismic retrofitting of existing structures. In recent years, particular attention has been paid to the issue of seismic risk of buildings and bridges. Following our values of innovation, we have specialized in this field and carried out services for the Italian administration. We have also performed seismic testing, temporary, and continuos health monitoring for buildings and bridges. Seismic retrofitting provides existing structures more resistive to seismic loads imposed on structures by earthquakes. Retrofitting processes range from reinforcement of individual structural elements to structural interventions for seismic improvement of existing buildings by innovative measures, and to interventions aiming at refurbishing and/or conversion of historical buildings. INARK has always successfully dealt with these issues by adopting a methodology structured in three key steps: knowledge, project and site work: The acquisition of knowledge is an iterative process which includes thorough research, archiving, and bibliographical/historical analysis of the structure in hand, planning and execution of survey (geognostic, diagnostic and geophysics); The successful design means analysis and synthesis in order to determine the optimal solution with respect to economic, technical and functional constraints. Particular attention is given to the modern retrofitting technologies such as damper devices, advanced composite materials, seismic isolators, and external prestressing; The supervision on site is very crucial to ensure realization of the assumptions made with regards to the building site, and therefore the perfect execution of the project. 7 INARK Engineering Architecture and Consultancy

The hospital is a 10 storey building with two underground levels. A heliport is positioned on the roof level of the hospital. The hospital is the first seismically isolated hospital designed in Europe, and has been chosen by the Italian Seismic Service as a pilot-example for future applications. The system of isolators placed between the foundation and the superstructure allows to decouple the ground motion from the building motion, and dissipates large amount of seismic energy. Several finite element models of the structure have been built and non-linear time history analyses under natural ground motion excitations have been carried out. The load bearing system of the structure is reinforced concrete frames. Rubber Bearing Isolator 8 INARK Mühendislik Mimarlık ve Danışmanlık

Seismically Isolated Hospital Rubber Bearing Tests Architecturally the major challenge has been to achieve the maximum efficiency, technical and economical, without compromising the comfort of the patients. Particular attention has been given to the floors and rooms layout in making them functional for the doctors and the family visitors. Furthermore, studies for the control of light have been carried out in order to give at each room the right exposure. 9 INARK Engineering Architecture and Consultancy

After careful evaluation of the existing project, it is decided to use high damping rubber (HDR) bearings with friction sliders. Time history analysis of the building with and without the seismic isolation system has been performed to assess the advantages of using such systems. Based on the analysis results, the seismic response of the structure improved: - through the increase of the fundamental periods, seismic loads decreased tremendously, - reduction of inter-story drifts, - reduction of the base shear forces. Displacements Time History High Damping Rubber Bearing From the displacements time history at each floor it is possible to see that there is no inter-story drifts, and the structure will always behave as elastic. 10 INARK Mühendislik Mimarlık ve Danışmanlık
