4 YEAR FLIGHT PLAN: BA in Spanish (Non-Heritage Track) FAU is committed to your success as a student. One way we define student success is efficient and effective progression through your degree program. This Flight Plan is a tool to assist you in planning the courses you should complete and milestones you should reach during your undergraduate studies so you may graduate on time. It is our intention that you complete this planning tool in collaboration with an academic advisor to ensure good understanding of: Which graduation requirements you have satisfied Which Intellectual Foundations and elective courses match your career plans How to balance coursework with your other responsibilities (e.g., employment) and optional activities (e.g., mentored research, study abroad, student organizations, leadership) How to get the most from your academic experience at FAU Please note: This particular flight plan is only a generic model, and will not be suitable for every potential Spanish major. This plan is merely intended to demonstrate how a first-time-in-college student with little or no formal coursework in Spanish can accomplish this BA degree in four years (8 semesters) of full-time study. If you are interested in pursuing a degree in Spanish, be sure to schedule an appointment directly with an advisor in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature. This is the only way you can make sure you are following the degree path that is just right for you and that takes into account your individual level of language proficiency. This is also the best way to guarantee that your overall flight plan minimizes those periods when you are not actively studying, practicing, and living the language. If you have prior knowledge of Spanish and have not yet taken Spanish at FAU, congratulations!! You have a jump start on the major! SPN 1120 Beg Spanish Lang & Culture 1 IMPORTANT: SPN 1120 is a true beginners course designed to build basic proficiency in all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing). This course is only open to students with no prior knowledge of or exposure to Spanish, and does count toward the Spanish major.
