Yet, they are also one of the biggest energy efficiency challenges. In the United States alone, buildings account for over 70 percent of the nation s electricity consumption and about 40 percent of carbon dioxide emissions. However, incorporating sustainable design strategies into large building projects and community policies is often seen as expensive and complex. But it does not have to be. DNV KEMA works with municipalities to integrate sustainable strategies into building design, construction and commissioning in timeand cost-effective ways. On individual projects, we work with you to define green strategies for healthy, high-performance buildings with low or even no carbon impact. That includes designing for certification such as LEED and BREEAM.
