MAB (Merchant Acquiring Business) primarily refers to the mechanism of facilitating payment for goods and services purchased through the medium of a card. We, SBT install Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machine or Point of Sale (POS) terminal(s) which facilitate acceptance of payment by swiping of debit/credit/pre-paid cards on the POS terminals as sale proceeds of goods and services sold by merchants. Our Merchant Acquiring Services enable merchant to accept all Visa/ MasterCard/RuPay cards for payment.
EMV Compliance: All our terminals are EMV compliant and can accept chip and PIN based cards. State Bank of Travancore is providing POS terminals to the merchants from May 2013 and installed 1926 POS terminals as on 31 st March 2014 with a great success. ADVANTAGES FOR VARIOUS STAKE HOLDERS CARD HOLDERS No need to carry cash, which is risky. They need not to worry about currency management. They may not depend on ATM and branches for cash. Maintains higher balances in the account resulting in higher interest on deposits. They can use plastic money for purchases which is more convenience and safety. MERCHANTS Consumer spends more on cards, which impulse shopping. Cash handling is avoided. So pure cashiers can be dispensed from the shops. The risks of Forged Notes can be avoided. Designation of an account for settlement of transactions (Current Account). Ensure Current A/c. is funded and no restrictions for debit and credit posting. Finalisation of settlement period. The Agreement has to be made between the merchants and Bank.
The merchant must provide charge slip in case of any disputed transactions. DO S AND DON TS Do s Merchants must accept all cards when properly presented as payments for transactions. Bring to the notice of the bank any fraudulent activities. Verify the card holder s signature with the one below the strip of the card Perform settlement on POS terminal at-least once in a day; settlement may be done by merchant as many times as he wish. If not done amount shall not be credited in customer s settlement account. Don ts Merchant must not disclose details of the card or cardholders to any third party. Impose any extra charge or surcharge (unless expressly allowed by local law ). Indulge in any fraudulent activity. WHY SBT POS? No installation charges. Cost of POS terminals borne by Bank. It has been decided to introduce the following service charges in respect of POS terminals w.e.f 19/05/2014. Sl. No. Particulars Proposed Charges 1. Rs.500 (including tax) for PSTN & Desktop GPRS models or actual charges whichever is higher. 2.Rs.600 (including tax) for PGPRS models or actual charges whichever is higher Rs.3000+Service Tax or the Actual Charges whichever is higher to be debited to merchant account as per actual as per data provided by the technology service providers. COMPLAINT MANAGEMENT AND RESOLUTION PROCEDURE Complaints relating to Paper roll and mal functioning of machines, merchant can lodge complaints with MID and TID number to M/s Prizm (TSP) and can obtain docket number.
