Seattle Central Community College International Student Frequently Asked Questions -Scholarships- I submitted my application past the deadline. Will it be considered by the Scholarship Commitee? No. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Completed applications must be received by the end of the day on the deadline date (see page10). If the deadline falls on a weekend, the application must be received by the end of the first business day (Monday through Friday) following the weekend. My application materials will not all be ready to submit to the IEP office at the same time. Should I submit materials at different times? No. Please prepare and deliver application materials all at once, in one package. Separate application pieces will not be considered. When will awards be mailed to applicants? Scholarship award notices will be mailed to applicants who have submitted complete applications after 15 business days from the application deadline date. How many scholarships may I apply for? You may apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for (read carefully the Eligibility section on page 8 of this scholarship application). Only one application form is necessary. Students who receive an award are ineligible to apply for other International Student Scholarships until their current awards have expired. I submitted an incomplete application. Will it be considered by the Scholarship Committee? No. Incomplete applications will not be considered. In addition, notification letters will not be sent to students who submit incomplete applications or applications for scholarships for which they are ineligible. Will my application materials be returned to me after the awards have been made? No. All application materials become the property of the IEP office. Do not send original documents; instead, make a copy of the document and have the copy certified as official by a teacher or other school official and then submit it with your application. It is a good idea to make copies of all scholarship application documents for your records. How many scholarship awards are distributed each quarter? The number of scholarships awards varies from quarter to quarter, and this number is based on the number of qualified applicants. How may I confirm the status of my scholarship application? The applicant may send an e-mail to jafrancois@sccd.ctc.edu to request confirmation of receipt of scholarship application materials. The reply email will state whether or not the application was received; content questions will not be addressed. Be sure to state in your email that you have applied for a scholarship, and the quarter for which you have applied. If I am an SCIE applicant, can I apply for a new Student Scholarship? Yes Are there other scholarships available to international students? Seattle Central Community College offers Foundation scholarships to currently enrolled SCCC students, including international students. These scholarships are not related to the IEP scholarships and involve a separate application and review process. Scholarship application materials are available in February each year, with a March deadline. For more information on Foundation scholarships, visit Seattle Central s website. Do I need to submit official transcripts and original letters of recommendation in my application? All non-seattle Central transcripts must be official copies, and all recommendation letters must be original. These documents must be submitted in sealed envelopes. If you have only one official transcript, you may submit a copy of your transcript that has been certified as authentic by a school or other official. Transcripts written in a language other than English must be accompanied by a translation. Transcripts from Seattle Central may be unofficial; go to the Student Online Services (SOS) section of Seattle Central s website to print your unofficial transcripts and current class schedule. 8
