Page 1 of Debbie Mulvey From: - 1 Sent: 14 January 2008 22:03 To: ENHLicence Subject: Mere Co Op Dear Sir We are neighbours of the CO OP Mere who are reapplying for a licence for the shop. The new licence states that the licence should run from 6am to lpm. We as neighbours would like to lodge an objection to the shop having a licence so early in the morning. Currently the shop opens at 7am and we would not like to see the shop open any earlier. The disturbance from delivery lories before 7am is already considerable and we would not like to see lories turning up even earlier. However presently the shop is only open from 7am. This opening time causes us considerable inconvenience as lorries turn up from 7am and sometimes even earlier to deliver goods. We have a bedroom at the front of the property and the noise of unloading already affects us. f the Coop were to extend their opening hours in line with the licensing hours we would have noise and disruption even earlier. This is why we are opposing the application of the current licence. Surely it is possible to grant a new licence with new restrictions?? From: Wallsgrove, Sarah ({J Sent: 14 February 2008 12:03 To: Debbie Mulvey Subject: Co-op at Mere Good morning Debbie refer to the two residential representations received in respect of the above application. As you are aware, the new Licence has been lodged to take into account substantial structural changes to the premises. The hours sought are in line with the existing Premises Licence currently in force to Monday to Sunday. note that the residents representations relate to deliveries before 0700. Having taken instructions from the Society, can confirm that their deliveries do not take place before 0700, the earliest being on a Monday at 0800 for chilled products. There are no deliveries on a Sunday. Ambient deliveries, which would include alcohol deliveries, all take place later in the day. Of course, there may be deliveries early in the morning e.g newspapers and there is little restriction that our client can put on those deliveries: wholesalers commonly leave such deliveries outside retail premises country wide. We would respectfully submit that as the delivieries to which the residents allude do not relate to the delivery of alcohol their representations are not relevant. f this matter went before your committee, the committee could only restrict licensable activities, not deliveries to the premises other than alcohol. Southern Co-Operatives Limited are a responsible operator and at all times take on the views and concerns of any local residents and the comments of these residents have, of course, been conveyed to them. would imagine that you will have to refer my comments back to the residents and therefore look forward to hearing from you shortly. Kind regards. Sarah Sarah Wallsgrove Client Support Manager - Licensing Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons New Court 1 Barnes Wallis Road Segensworth Hampshire PO15 5UA
