Different components such as creation of centres, development of course material and launch of programme etc... of this series has different initiation points. The final decision on initiation of steps depends Non-availability of faculty in the respective disciplines and delay in approval process of various activities may lead to underachievment of the targets. Launching of region-based programmmes is a first-time effort by the Regional Centres. The programmes proposed as on date do not parallel in the conventional system. 3. Commonwealth of Learning (COL) 4. Scheme of Scholarship for College and Students Promote education through distance learning among commonwealth nations with focused attention as activities pertaining to development of instructional material, use of ICT and training. To provide financial assistance to meritorious students of colleges and universities including engineering, Medical and professional programmes with a provision of renewal on year to year basis within the same stage of education subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria -- 4.00 --. Contribution of India to COL 50.00 (5.00 in -- 40,000 fresh scholarships are expected to be awarded during the year. To meet India s commitment. 40,000 meritorious students will be able to pursue higher studies COL is an international agency. The budgetary amount is India s contribution and released in one installment after approval The process will continue throughout the year. - This will be a new scheme. The outcome indicated will be subject to the approval of the proposed scheme of scholarships for college and Students. 5
