Edinburgh, London and Dublin Costs I use nationally renowned companies such as Explorica and EF Tours, to arrange and provide my tours; for this tour I will be using EF (Education First-Boston). The following price quote is valid January 2014. Touring companies will occasionally have to adjust the price of the tours. If you have any questions about the cost contact the Kelly or Toni. Note about the costs listed below. All attempts have been made to list the correct costs. However, differences may develop due to the time you enroll and options you choose, or your enrollment status. The flyers are numbered, and you sign up under the guidelines/costs of the most current flyer. Lifetime Member Fee $ 95.00 (included in the fee below) Program Fee** $ 3,692.00--$3,902.00 (transportation, guide fees, room, breakfast and some meals) Insurance $ 145.00# (optional, we suggest you take it and it is built into the fee you see here) Early discount (by February 28th.) -$ 150.00 Total $3,542.00 3,687.00 (w/wo insurance) Total if over 30* $3,752.00--$3,897.00 (w/wo insurance) *Travelers over 30 are booked into a twin room and have an upcharge of $210.00 which is reflected in the above fees. Under 23 year old travelers may be in rooms of two, three or four depending on the hotel. Travelers under 30 who want a twin room may also pay the upcharge. SSC cost includes: (estimated) 3 hours of tuition and college fees. $ 375.00** Tip fees for guides and T-shirt $ 90.00 SSC fees** $ 465.00** TOTAL Trip and SSC fees $3,775.00 4,362.00**** **Tuition and fees for the three hour course vary because of several items including a traveler s age, whether they take the class for credit or audit, have a full or partial scholarship, and if a traveler is a first time student. If you have any questions call me, KdK. Tuition and fees are payable to the college before we depart and are due whether you are taking the course for credit or auditing. Tuition is paid at the beginning of the semester in which the tour is taken. There are various fee classifications (under 16, in high school and concurrent, in high school and not concurrent, regular college student, etc.) and all travelers will be charged for their appropriate fee classification. See the Registrar for more exact information. ****I do my best to list the correct fees but the final amount may vary slightly. The costs shown here represent a low total cost for an under 23 year old traveler with some tuition help.

The higher costs represents an over 23 year old traveler taking the course for credit and no scholarship. Program fees can be locked in by registering early: fees may increase latter in the year. If fees increase you will have to pay the difference if you are not signed up, however, if fees decrease and you are signed up you will receive the lower amount. All program fees (not tuition or fee monies) must be paid to the touring company according to their contract. Read their contract for their deadline

Global Studies MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Do I have to be a Seminole State college student to go on the trip? Yes and No. You will sign up for the class and thus will be an SSC student when you go on the trip. However, you do not have to be a currently enrolled student. (Examples-A friend of mine from Kansas City has gone on two of the trips. A husband and wife went on a trip as an anniversary present to themselves. A retired schoolteacher went on the SSC trip to be around young minds. ) These people were not SSC students until they signed up for the tour. However, all travelers have to follow the SSC students conduct code, thus making you an SSC student. 2. Do I have to attend the lectures, slide presentation etc.? Yes and No. If you are taking the class for credit you will have to attend unless other arranges are agreed to by the instructor. If you are auditing the class you are encouraged to attend. The classes are targeted towards the art, history, and culture(s) we will be visiting. I hope all travelers can attend these lectures to find out information about the culture(s). Travelers not taking the class for credit will find the lectures informative and entertaining. 3. Do I need a passport? Yes, and don t wait to get it. Sometimes it takes up to six weeks to receive a passport. Don t pay for the trip and then forget to get that passport!! If you forget your passport you will not be allowed on the plane. 4. When do I have to pay the SSC part of the fees? You will officially enroll for the class when enrollment for the particular semester in which a tour is offered opens. An estimation of the SSC fees are clearly delineated on the price sheet. Tuition and fees are paid to the college. 5. When do I have to pay the fees to the touring company? When you enroll for the tour you will pay the touring company their registration fee and for the cost of the tour. They will then set up time period(s) for you to pay them the fees for the tour part of the class. Most touring companies payment structure will usually have the tour paid for 90-99 days before a tour departs. That means everyone must have a zero balance 99 days before the tour begins. Read the contract with the touring company carefully concerning fees and late charges. When you sign the contract you are agreeing to their payment terms. However, and this is good news. EF will let you pay until June for a June tour if you sign up for an automatic withdraw from a credit or debit account. This allows the traveler the option to stretch out the costs. 6. May I pay all of my fees up front? No, you may pay all of the fees to the touring company but you have to wait until enrollment opens to pay tuition and fees. 7. What happens if at the last minute I cannot go on the trip? OOPS!!! If you think you may have a situation come up that might cause you to be unable to go purchase the tour cancellation insurance. Check the current contract for exact cost. This is a great way to protect your investment against medical or family medical emergency. The fee for the insurance is certainly reasonable and most travelers take advantage of this service.

8. Can I sell my seat on the trip to someone else? No and SSC cannot change the contract you sign with a touring company. 9. How much additional money do I need for the trip? Good question. All of your necessary items are covered. Other costs vary from person to person but your outs of pocket expenses are for lunch, perhaps diner, additional side trips, and souvenirs. We will talk about this in class. 10. Where can I get the currency (ies) for the country (ies) we are visiting? We will arrange for currency (ies) through a bank. This offer may not always be doable, but we have been doing it for 20 years..it saves everyone money to order currency one time. 11. How late can I enroll? Obviously, the later you enroll the faster you will have to pay for the tour to meet the payment deadline set by a touring company. Also, there are usually late enrollment fees if you enroll after the cutoff date. Very important, if you sign up late most touring companies may not be able to get you on the same flight(s) and you may have to fly on a different itinerary. 12. Can I go on the trip if I am not 18 years old? If you are accompanied by an adult, yes. If you are under eighteen and cannot be accompanied by an adult, the program leader may sign you onto the tour, but you must get permission first. There are legal papers that must be signed. SSC s tours are focused toward the college student. However, we encourage parents of young teens to consider going as a family and enjoying travel in a unique way. 13. Is there an age limit? No, unless you fall under one of the exclusions above. FYI, our youngest student has been 13, they traveled with their mother, and out oldest has been 79. 14. How many years has SSC undertaken a foreign studies program? The program was started in 1998-99. 15. Is credit for the course transferable? The Global Studies course is ;offered as a humanities, credit-bearing cours,e unless otherwise noted, at SSC. If you earn your degree at SSC, credit for the class is included in your total number of college hours earned, thus, it is transferable. If you want to transfer the course without a degree from SSC, you will need to take the syllabus to your receiving college. We have experienced wide acceptance and to my knowledge the course has never been refused, but there will be a refusal eventually. The course will remain on your SSC transcript for consideration by other colleges, universities, graduate programs, and the consideration by potential employers. 16. How do I register for the course/trip? Either come to one of the tour meetings (find out the time by contacting the Art Department) or call us (1-405-382-9251, or 1-405-382-9561) and we will get you the information you requested. 17. Is there a limit on the number of people who can sign up? Yes. The department may limit the number depending on the length and tour agenda. We encourage all interested people to contact us early.

18. Tour Company Billing If you call Billing or Customer Service always, and I mean always, get the representative s name. Thus, if there is a problem we can help improve the touring company s internal procedures. I would also strongly suggest that if you feel you will be calling billing to straighten out something you call and ask for the same person even if a company says it doesn t matter. Usually the mess-ups with billing occur with late or nearly late enrollees. Please enroll as soon as possible and keep up on your payments. 19. Insurance:# Tour insurance is an option that we recommend. 20. Other requirements As a part of the tour you will have to agree to two Risk Management documents that the college has adopted. These are general in scope, but if you would like to read them before signing up call the art department/global Studies program or the tour Director of your tour. #SSC does not make a profit by having students take out insurance. #We also suggest you get a copy of any policy you purchase. *All SSC fees (tuition/fees and tip monies) must be paid before the tour begins. If you have any questions call Kelly D. Kirk, Professor of Art and Global Studies or Toni Wittmann, Secretary of the Language Arts and Humanities Division @ Seminole State College 1-405-382-9251 (K), or 1-405-382-9561 (T)
