Welcome Welcome to Heifer s Global Learning Portal! We hope this system provides you a single location to look for your learning and professional development needs. The websites display best in Firefox and Chrome. We are always open to ideas and welcome your feedback. A special thank you to Marketing and Resource Development for their support. 4

Just scroll down until you find the section you are looking for. Basic information as well as links to more detailed information can be found within those sections. 5

General Net Dimensions Navigation Site Menus The user menu appears in a black bar at the top of pages on the back end. It provides access to your account settings, to contact the Talent Development Team, to access a detailed Net Dimension user guide and to log out of the system. Under the user menu is a navigation menu which provides access to the front page of Net Dimensions and to the Learning Center. Learn more about these sections below. 8

Home The Home button will return a user to the front page of Net Dimensions. The home page includes quick access to News, Enrollments, Course Status and Catalog Search. News The news box will provide you a quick link back to the front end of Heifer s Global Learning Portal. If Net Dimensions has scheduled maintenance, you will also find those announcements here. Enrollments Quickly access a list of courses in which you are currently enrolled but have not completed. 9

Course Status See how you are progressing in all of your courses through an overview of your course status on the front page. Remember, as soon as you begin a course, it will be marked as 50 percent complete. It will not keep a detailed progress report. Catalog Search Quickly search for a course if you know the name or keywords. Select a specific learning type to narrow your results including online courses, classroom courses and webinars (just-in-time learning). Clicking on Learning Center will take a user to the My Learning page. Hovering over the menu will open a submenu to provide access to courses a user is currently enrolled in (My Learning), courses a user has completed (My Learning History), catalog search features (Catalog Search) and course catalogs (Catalog Browser). 10

Learning Center Clicking on Learning Center will take a user to the My Learning page. Hovering over the menu will open a submenu to provide access to courses a user is currently enrolled in (My Learning), courses a user has completed (My Learning History), catalog search features (Catalog Search) and course catalogs (Catalog Browser). My Learning View courses in which you are currently enrolled. Enrollment Requests Your enrollment requests are automatically approved and this page should display no results. My Learning History View courses you have already completed and access transcripts. Catalog Search Search for a specific course by type, keyword, author or other known fields. Catalog Browser Browse all courses Heifer has to offer. Account Access Account Eligibility All Heifer employees are eligible for an account. New hires and current employees will automatically receive an account for Heifer s Global Learning Portal and should receive an email containing instructions to access their account. Interns, temporary workers and contractors who have a valid Heifer email address may also be eligible for an account with supervisor approval. To request an account, forward your supervisor s approval using your Heifer email address to HR@heifer.org. Volunteers are not generally eligible for an account but exceptions may be made for board members or other long-term volunteers with the appropriate approvals. 11

Log In To log in, click the Log in button in the menu bar in the front end of Heifer s Global Learning Portal. You may also be prompted to log in if you click a hyperlink to the back end without first logging in. Your username is your Heifer email address (ie: HR@heifer.org; info@hpichina.org). If this is your first time using the system, your password is provided by email or Heifer s Onboarding system. If you have changed your password, enter that password. If you have forgotten your password, click Reset Password, and follow the instructions on-screen. You only need to enter your email address to reset your password; completing the username field is optional. Language: 1. In the first row, select your language from the Language: drop down. 2. Click Submit. Time Zone When a course has a specific time, it can be confusing to translate it to local time. Update Your Profile Your profile can contain a wide variety of information about you. All mandatory fields have been completed for you. Click on the tab for Change Password. 2. Enter your current password and then enter a new password. Passwords must contain at least 8 characters. 3. Reenter your password 4. Click Submit. Click on the Search for Courses link from the front end or select Catalog Search from the Learning Center within Net Dimensions. 2. If only one box appears, click Advanced Search to the right of the search button. 3. Enter any information you know about the course. None of the fields are required. a. Keywords may include the course title or part of a course description b. We recommend users keep the catalog as All c. Webinars = Just-In-Time Learning and Online 4. Click the Search button at the top of the form. 5. Select the course you wish to take, enroll and complete. 17

Enrolling In Courses Course Descriptions Each course or webinar will include a brief description of the course. The course description may also include objectives, language, estimated duration, links for more information and a support contact. Enroll Click the Enroll, button and you are enrolled. Enrollments no longer require an administrator s approval and you will be given instance access. For classroom courses that are not currently scheduled, click the link, Click here to indicate your interest in taking this course to let us know you are interested. If enough interest is expressed, a session may be scheduled. Learning Programs Some courses may be grouped into Learning Programs. By enrolling in a learning program, you are automatically enrolled in the individual courses that make up that program. 18

Accessing Your Courses After enrolling in a course it is time to begin learning. There are many ways to access courses in which you have enrolled. The easiest is clicking Learning Center within Net Dimensions and then selecting the course. If you are returning to complete a course you already started, you can also quickly access your courses using the View my courses link from the front end of Heifer s Global Learning Portal. If you have taken a lot of courses, you may wish to click on the box under Status and remove the check box from courses you do not wish to appear. (In this case, leave Not Started, In Progress and Session Selection Needed, checked.) Learning Programs If you enroll in a learning program, you will need to click Show Sub-Modules to view the individual modules of the program. 19

Course Status When you view your courses, the status will be identified as not started, in progress and complete. The percentage provided is not a full picture of what you have completed in each course. For most courses, the course status will display as: 0% - Not started 50% - In progress 100% - Complete For learning programs, completion may vary based on how many modules you have completed. Course Transcripts Course transcripts are available for any courses you have already completed. To view or print a transcript, hover over Learning Center in the navigation menu and select My Learning History, from the submenu. Click the name of a course to open your transcript. Your transcript will include information such as when you enrolled, when you started, when you finished, overall status, how long you spent on the training and how many times you launched the course. 20

Troubleshooting Navigation What web browser works best? We recommend using Firefox or Chrome to browse the front end and back end of Heifer s Global Learning Portal. However, we recognized each course may have varying browser requirements. I can t find the information I am looking for. Try pressing Ctrl+F to open the search on page function and type in a keyword for the information you are looking for. If you are in the back-end, use one of the search boxes located around the system. If you still can t find what you are looking for, please notify HR@heifer.org to verify the information is there. We will help you find it and consider making changes to make the information easier to find. I have logged in to the back end (Net Dimensions) but wish to return to the front end. How do I get back? There are many ways you can return to the front end of Heifer s Global Learning Portal. If you are finished in Net Dimensions you can click the log out button and be redirected to the front end. Go to the Home page of Net Dimensions and in the News Section click the link to return to the front end. Go to HIP and click on the link for Heifer s Global Learning Portal. Browse to learning.heifer.org manually. 21

Courses I finished my course but it doesn t show complete. Some courses require Heifer s Global Learning Portal and any pop-ups associated with the course to be open. Make sure when you are taking a course, you do not use any of these windows to navigate to other web pages or close these windows. When I try to open a course in which I have enrolled, nothing happens. Most courses will open in an additional pop-up window. Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled or set to allow pop-ups from Heifer s Global Learning Portal. Some courses also run off of Java which some internet browsers may block by default. You cannot turn Java back on in Google Chrome. 22
