WHO IS CIVS? GENERAL INFORMATION CIVS Kenya is a community developments agency operating especially in the marginalized and poverty-stricken rural areas of Kenya. We pursue an integrated socio-economic and cultural development approach in the fight against poverty and social exclusion of Kenyan communities under the maxim development by People. We believe that people should retain the responsibility for their own development while CIVS supports, guides and mentors their efforts with innovative and customized high quality services VISA AND AIRPORT ENTRY All volunteers are advised to apply for Tourist visa either before arrival or upon arrival at Nairobi Airport. All volunteers are going to be picked from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi and stay in Buruburu. We also drop all the volunteers to Airport on departure. ORIENTATION There will be an orientation meeting for new volunteers lasting three days. It kicks off on the first Monday every month. It would be good if the volunteers can arrive at least one day before the orientation starts. PARTICIPATION FEES CIVS solely depends on volunteer contributions to support its activities. The first month of your stay you will pay 200 and 190 for each subsequent month. The participation fee covers the following services: Airport transfers 3-day orientation seminar Introduction to the city Accommodation and food during orientation and during placement duration Coordination and office support The following costs are NOT included: Cost of drinks like soda, beer, mineral water etc Cost of sightseeing Visa costs Direct donations to the project Local travelling Page 3 of 28
TOURS & SAFARI CIVS organizes tours and safaris to spectacular sites of interest in Kenya. Volunteers, who wish to participate, should let us know as soon as possible in order to enable us to make proper arrangements. The fee charged is all-inclusive of meals, transport, and entry to the park, accommodation and tour guiding. The cost of a 3 days tour to Maasai Mara National Park is 320 WHAT TO BRING Sleeping bag, sleeping mat and mosquito net are necessary. You can also bring photos of your country, clothes, books, pens, toys etc. Page 4 of 28
CIVS/MLTV-01/15: MAGODO CHILDREN S HOME Started in 1995, Magodo Children s Home is a registered as a community-based organisation. The aim of the home is to improve the lives and well-being of underprivileged and vulnerable children in the local community. The Magodo Complex Centre serves 367 children and the Magodo Home houses 40 of them. We work with children aged 5-18 and who have been abused, abandoned, or are orphans. We provide them with counseling, rehabilitation, medical care, education, shelter, clothing, and food. They are committed to the home through juvenile court, children support services and Buruburu police station children protection unit. MISSION Magodo s mission is to facilitate the provision of basic needs to vulnerable children and to further their education by supporting them spiritually, emotionally and psychologically to the best of our ability. PROJECT ACTIVITIES Taking care of the children as well as playing with them Feeding the children Assisting in preparation and serving of meals Teaching English, Mathematics and Social Studies General cleaning Helping the children with homework The project is located in Harambee estate in the East of Nairobi, Kenya The volunteer will stay in a host family near the project site. CIVS/MLTV-02/15: BRIGHT STAR JUNIOR SCHOOL The goal of Bright Star Junior School is to reach out to children from poor background of Diani area located in coastal Kenya whose parents are not able to pay for regular school fees. Bright Star has been in the forefront of trying to get more children to go to school by convincing their parents, who at times are ignorant on the importance of education. Some of the children join school very late and struggle to catch up with the curriculum. By maintaining high quality education, given by qualified and experienced teachers, the school has been able to achieve very good results, especially when taking the background of the children into account. MISSION The Bright Star Junior School offers quality education and training through the promotion of sponsorships thus enables children to explore their potential for a better future PROJECT ACTIVITIES Teaching i.e. Mathematics, English and Social Work Helping with the preparation and serving of meals Engagement in co-curricular activities i.e. Sports, drama and music The Bright Star Junior School is located in Tiwi, Coastal Region and Kwale District about 500 km from Nairobi. CIVS/MLTV-03/15: COMPASSIONATE HANDS FOR THE DISABLED FOUNDATION (CHDF) Volunteer in East Nairobi in an outreach center in Ruai. You will be placed with a communitybased organization called Compassionate Hands for the Disabled Foundation (CHDF) that was established in 2008 and works with children who have disabilities. These are at-risk children who are orphaned, often due to HIV/AIDS, or abandoned. There are around 30 children in this center that have a variety of physical and mental disabilities. This group has produced feeding and educational programs alongside providing the children with medical help and physical therapy. This organization aims to develop effective programs that will empower those who have special needs. CHDF seeks to help these individuals become economically and socially independent while fostering greater awareness in the community about how disabilities are not inabilities. VOLUNTEER TASKS Teaching and guidance on basic life skills Feeding the children Occupational therapy Community home visits Helping the children with homework The project is located in Ruai in the East of Nairobi The volunteer will live in a host family in Buruburu near the CIVS Office. CIVS/MLTV-04/15: KYALE SMALL HOME Volunteer in the Eastern region of Kenya and work with physically handicapped children in Kyale Smalle Home. This is a school and a home that was created in 1994. A primary school and Catholic Church surround this home which currently houses 20 children. These kids are boys and girls aged 10 to 19. These children have suffered accidents, handicaps from or during birth, snakebites, and polio, among other disabilities. Kikamba is the native language and farming is one of the staples for a profession with individuals growing vegetables, bananas, sweet potatoes, coffee, beans, maize, and tending to livestock and poultry. You can view Africa s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, from the home and you can experience the traditional Akamba homes built by the Kamba people. VOLUNTEER TASKS Working in the home s kitchen and vegetable garden Helping children study and play at home Training the kids in creativity through games and doing handicraft work The project is located at Nunguni, in the Eastern region of Kenya. Approximately 2 hours drive from Nairobi city. The volunteer will live at the project site. All meals shall be provided at the project. Page 8 of 28
CIVS/MLTV-05/15: SLUM SANAA If you are interested in the arts, then consider joining this volunteer opportunity. You will have a chance to work with Slum Sanaa which is project that was developed to promote artistic endeavors in youth populations from slums. Created in 2009, this project promotes graphic design, beadwork, theatre, and music in local young communities. This was created by artists from slums in the Huruma and Mathare areas who wanted to share their skills with the local community. These artists have taught their skills while working with fellow organizations to organize events, including an annual festival. They work with schools to provide free lessons to children covering instruments, dance, and music. They even recorded a video and music for Hip Hop classes. This project is open to youths between the ages of 10 and 25 who want to learn how to market and make a living from their passion. This reduces crime rates. VOLUNTEER TASKS Undertaking photography and video recording for the project s activities Organizing awareness programs on topical issues such as HIV/AIDS, environmental conservation, drug and substance abuse etc Training children in music, drama and documentary production Fundraising activities The project is located in Huruma, Nairobi East Region. CIVS/MLTV-06/15: KIERENI SECONDARY SCHOOL The project is a learning institution for secondary students comprising of 520 students, both boys and girls. The school has 12 classes. The school was established in 1987 by the PCEA church. The institution has both teaching staff as well as non-teaching staff, who have the responsibility to lead the students to become responsible people in society. It offers educational services that are relevant to the growth of the local community. The school offers boarding facilities to the students. VOLUNTEER TASKS Teaching a subjects such as physics, biology, chemistry, English and Mathematics Organizing, coordinating and participating in extracurricular activities like athletics, football and coordination of clubs in the school like scouting, drama, music Environmental conservation and farm work. The project is located in Chuka, Eastern region of Kenya. The volunteer will live in a host family near the project site. CIVS/MLTV-07/15: MIGOSI FAMILY HOPE SOCIETY Migosi Family Hope Society is a Non-Governmental Organization that works towards the education of street children, children in the slum, women empowerment and agriculture. It started as a self-help group in 2006 and now it has moved to a society with the aim of reaching the entire community. Their main purpose has always been to socialize, educate, empower and develop people through community work and charity. Migosi works with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, Prisons Department and the Ministry of Children and Gender to help facilitate their programs in Kenya. VOLUNTEER TASKS Teaching a combination of science subjects and Mathematics as well as Music Construction work Environmental conservation and farm work Help in the art and craft activities e.g. graffiti and paintings on shirts and papers The project is located in Kisumu, the Nyanza region of Kenya. The Volunteer will stay in a Host Family near the project site. Breakfast and dinner will be provided in the host family and volunteers will get lunch at the project. Page 11 of 28
CIVS/MLTV-08/15: GOOD SAMARITAN CHILDREN S CENTRE Soweto Slums Good Samaritan Orphans and Destitute Children s Centre is a community based organization. The Centre was started and registered 2004 in response to the needs of the orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Soweto Slum. The Centre started with two children who were abandoned by their parents and rescued by the area district officer officials and brought to the founder s house. It is now of 61 children both boys and girls. These are either orphans or abandoned children. The children have been orphaned for a multitude of reasons although a majority are due to the H.I.V epidemic, poverty and unwanted pregnancies. The children s circumstances and histories are as different as their personalities- but now they have the optimism and opportunity for a more positive future. The dedicated care givers at Good Samaritan are working hard to provide the basics of life shelter, security and food; however they are acutely aware that it is education which can break the cycle of poverty. Kenya has over one million orphans and vulnerable children living in children s homes, which are predominantly privately funded and operated, there is little government assistance. Good Samaritan founded six years ago and to date receives no stable funding. From time to time they receive donations of food items and clothing from people in the local community. The caregivers at the orphanage are dedicated and loving, doing the best they can with the little resources they have. At the very least they are providing these children with a stable family environment. The children are between 6 months to 17 years (March 2012) and are all attending a formal education VOLUNTEER TASKS Feeding of children Educate children and provide guidance and counseling Playing with the children Helping the children with homework The project is located at Soweto Slums, Eastern Nairobi region. PROJECT DESCRIPTION CIVS/MLTV-09/15: CIVS COMMUNITY SERVICE CIVS Kenya is a community development agency operating especially in the marginalized and poverty-stricken rural areas of Kenya. We pursue an integrated socio-economic and cultural development approach in the fight against poverty and social exclusion of Kenyan communities under the maxim development by people. We believe that people should retain the responsibility for their own development while CIVS supports, guides and mentors their efforts with innovative and customized high quality services. We are seeking for a volunteer who is has knowledge in writing proposals for funding in order to support some of our projects. NATURE OF WORK LOCATION Creating, planning, implementation, management and oversight of all aspects related to fundraising for CIVS Identifying donor opportunities, develop donor database, respond to donor tenders and call for proposals, develop grant proposals, write appeals, represent CIVS at donor meetings and undertake follow-up of potential funding opportunities Explore and develop strategies for long-term sustainability of CIVS and its interventions Develop business plans in consultation with other staff for possible generation of longterm incomes for CIVS Undertake online research and build contacts with potential individual donors and raise funds for the activities of the organization The project is located in Buruburu estate, Nairobi east region of Kenya. The volunteer will live in a host family near the project site. Breakfast and dinner will be provided in the host family. QUALIFICATION Volunteers are expected to be able to communicate in English. CIVS/MLTV-10/15: COMMUNITY HEALTH VOLUNTEERS PROJECT DESCRIPTION Community Health Volunteers (CHV) is a community based organization established in 2006 by local volunteers operating within Kakamega East District with its main office at Virhembe Market. There is a focus on HIV/AIDS and other health issues. The mission of this group is to spearhead implementation of community health conservation projects. This to create a better life for community in western Kenya. The group pursuits the aim of expanding capacities of the community in regards to dealing with HIV/AIDS. It seeks to design and implement quality HIV/AIDS interventions, as well as to support people living with HIV/AIDS by increasing access and improving the quality of healthcare and referral services for them through increased linkages with the Ministry of Health. The group also aims to promote safe sexual behavior and practice among youth and vulnerable groups. Community Health Volunteers in collaboration with DANIDA are establishing a dispensary and a computer-training center that will be serve as a learning center for the youth. This will be the only dispensary and resource center within this area. LOCATION The project is located in Vihrembe market, Kakamega east district. NATURE OF WORK The volunteers will work in the dispensary assisting the medical staff, and at the computertraining center teaching basic computer skills. The volunteer will live in a host family near the project site. Breakfast and dinner will all be provided in the host family and volunteers will get lunch at the project. QUALIFICATION Volunteers with computer skills as well as those in the medical field (doctors, nurses, etc) are needed for this project. It is necessary that you should have high motivation and lots of initiative to implement the objectives of the project. You should be ready for any kind of work. Page 14 of 28
PROJECT DESCRIPTION CIVS/MLTV-11/15: MARIANNE CENTRE There are around 2.9 million individuals with various forms of mental disabilities in Kenya. These Kenyans face many obstacles in their daily lives since many communities still consider mental disability an ailment caused by witchcraft and black magic. These individuals are more than capable of developing useful skills given adequate support. The current education system is unable to support young adults who have mental disabilities since they cannot enroll in an ordinary secondary school and are often too old to attend primary schools. In 2010, Marianne Center was created to help individuals with disabilities and aged 16 to 50 years of age. This is a training center that offers support for these individuals and their families. There are around 38 Kenyans enrolled in this center who have disabilities including Autism and Down syndrome. We divide and group classes based on the abilities of students and we train these students in important autonomous skills as well as potential career avenues. Once their training is complete, they are placed with employers who can help them use their skills for a purpose. MISSION To make a difference in the life of young adults with special needs and disabilities in order to be self-reliant and easily integrated into mainstream life without fear of stigmatization. LOCATION The project is located in Limuru, Kiambu District of Kenya. VOLUNTEER TASKS The work consists of teaching activities in various subjects (mathematics, language, writing, drawing, gardening, sewing, beadwork, computer and cleaning), follow up and home visitations, organizing extra-curricular activities and the provision of guiding and counseling services to the students. The volunteer will be accommodated at the project site. Basic meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided in the project. QUALIFICATION There are no skills needed for this project, but we welcome applications from social workers. It is necessary that you should have high motivation and lots of initiative to implement the objectives of the project. You should be ready for any kind of work. Page 15 of 28
CIVS/MLTV-12/15: KAYA KINONDO ECOTOURISM PROJECT PROJECT DESCRIPTION In Coastal Kenya the local sacred forest are called Kayas. They are pockets of forest of 10 to 400 hectares found in the Kwale and Kilifi Counties in the coastal belt of Kenya. They owe their existence directly to the cultural beliefs and history of the nine (9) Coastal Mijikenda ethnic groups. Kaya Kinondo, the senior most Kaya (home) for the Digo people is in Kwale County. It is located a few meters from the Indian Ocean beach, next to Diani beach, which is internationally recognized as a tourist destination. Kaya Kinondo is the first Mijikenda sacred forest to open up for controlled ecotourism and the first such activity in the whole of Kenya Coast. The project came after a feasibility study was done which concluded that the local community led by the elders supported the idea. Kaya Kinondo ecotourism project is a pilot project that seeks to initiate and test the viability of ecotourism as a means of linking conservation to tangible social and economic benefits of local community. A conservation and development group was formed with an aim of coordinating conservation and development activities in the area. All proceedings of the project go towards maintenance of the Kaya, cultural ceremonies, community projects such as schools and water projects. Finally, through a financial services association established by the community as part of the project, the project gives loans to community groups and individuals within the area to initiate income generating micro projects. LOCATION The project is located in Ukunda, Kwale District of Kenya. VOLUNTEER TASKS The volunteers will engage in the following: Education program (awareness) Enterprise management (ecotourism and microfinance) Marketing Ecosystem survey and assessment Environmental and cultural awareness The volunteer will be accommodated at the project site. CIVS/MLTV-13/15: MAENDELEO LEARNING CENTER The Center was started in 2000 with the aim to uplift education standards within the community. The nursery school started with only 10 kids, later there was collaboration with the church, which offered the church hall for a fee after which the enrollment went up to 25 and classes increased from nursery to class 5. Many kids who are visiting the school had dropped out due to financial problems faced by their families. Maendeleo Learning Center Kids are aged between 2-15 years for Pre-School to Standard 8. Now it has a population of 600 pupils. Currently the school is embarking on establishing a secondary school, called Reuben Community School. MISSION AND GOALS To embrace a holistic development of the affected children by molding them through education, training and protection to become valuable citizens to their community To eradicate illiteracy by creating awareness to both adult and children on the significance of education and skills training To fight disease by availing to the community affordable and accessible health care To reduce poverty by finding ways of family support through the introduction of microfinance activities and promoting initiation of IGA (Income Generating Activities) PROJECT Helping in the kitchen with the preparation of food Working alongside with local volunteers in provision of basic needs Promotion of education and other related affairs i.e. teaching Teaching English, Mathematics, English, Social Sciences and creative arts The project is located in Mukuru Location, Embakasi South District, Nairobi County. The volunteer will stay in Buruburu near the CIVS office. The host family will provide breakfast and dinner to the volunteers. Page 17 of 28
CIVS/MLTV-14/15: QUEST FOR HAPPINESS MINISTRY The center started as a feeding program for orphans and vulnerable children in Ruai. Every child received at least one meal per day, which was provided by the members of the local church. It is managed by a couple in a rented premise. The couple also provide an open a centre to accommodate, feed and educate the children. Today, 25 children, who attend standard one to form four classes, call the centre their home. Quest for Happiness seeks to bring up children with a balanced view of life, possessing appropriate survival skills, in order to cope in a competitive world, to foster positive expectations about their future. MISSION To help the street children and orphans come out of vicious circle of poverty by providing them with love, shelter, food, clothing, education, health, security as well as spiritual nurture, this is the central purposes of our existence. PROJECT ACTIVITIES Empowering the minors to be self reliant i.e. life skills lessons Helping in the kitchen with the preparation of food Working alongside with local volunteers in provision of basic needs Promotion of education and other related affairs i.e. teaching Teaching English, Maths, Social Sciences, Health & Hygiene and creative arts The project is located in Ruai at the outskirts of Nairobi. CIVS/MLTV-15/15: TUMAINI FUND FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL Tumaini Fund for Economic Development International (TFEDI) is a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in the slums (ghetto's) of Nairobi, Kenya. It is set up in order to fight the widespread poverty, HIV/ AIDS and many social problems in Nairobi's slums and ghetto's. Tumaini Fund is also offering as Micro-Finance project as a strategy to reduce poverty. This is done under Small Assistance Enterprise Program (SEAP). Tumaini's vision is to see a society where the children, youth, women and men are healthy and financially capably of providing in their basic needs. MISSION TFEDI aims to support the local community through church development projects, entrepreneurship education and training, business advocacy and the provision of micro credits to start up small businesses. PROJECT ACTIVITIES entering the organizational information data and expanding the Microsoft Access database Preparation of reports as profit and losses and the improvement the administration processes by organizing a proper filing system working activities outside the office as visiting small-scale business members all around Nairobi and suburbs Updating the website The project is located in the East of Nairobi, about 5km from Buruburu in an estate called Kariobangi. CIVS/MLTV-16/15: SLUM CODE GROUP The Slumcode Group is a slum-based enterprise development organization founded on building strategies for community driven development. Our programs enhance digital literacy, access to information and personal professional growth for entrepreneurs and youth. Our success is firmly rooted on partnerships we acquire to leverage on opportunities, programs and projects that increase the capacity of our target users from the low-income communities. Education, Entrepreneurship and Leadership are fundamental pillars of service. We were founded in the year 2006 by 14 young people and registered by the Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs. MISSION Slum Code Group focuses on education, leadership and entrepreneurship and aims at building opportunities for the needy in society through access to information and linkages. On practical terms, we offer a youth friendly resource centre. PROJECT ACTIVITIES Elementary child care Project management Guidance and counseling Motivational speaking, journalism and media activities Teaching international languages Maintaining web and online presence etc. The project is located in Huruma Estate, Nairobi East region. CIVS/MLTV-17/15: KHALABA COMBINED DEVELOPMENT GROUP The founder is Pastor Josephat Sawa, who is the chairperson of Khalaba Combined Development Group (KCDG), started a nursery school in the year 2006 and recruited 16 children for the first time. The group is running a nursery school, which has a total 30 children. The mission of KCDG is to encourage everybody in the community to support each other, both emotionally and spiritually, in order to live peacefully and in harmony. PROJECT ACTIVITIES Assisting in teaching/after school activities Helping children with homework Offering emotional support to the orphans Cooking and serving food for the orphans The project is located in Kakamega County, Mumias Sub County, in Western Kenya The volunteer will stay in a host family near the project site. CIVS/MLTV-18/15: NYALUNYA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP Nyalunya Community Development Group is a community-based organization, which was formed in the year 2006 and officially registered in 2008 with the Kenya Government under the Ministry of Gender, Children, Sports and Social Services. Nyalunya, situated in Nyando district, is about 380 km from Nairobi. It was initiated by a group of women who came up with the idea of bringing together the community members with the aim of improving their welfare and living standards of the local community. The group has a kindergarten school, which hosts 20 children, who are either orphans or from a poor family background. The project thus aims at empowering children with the basic knowledge to enable them to join public schools from class one. The group is also involved in farming in order to raise fund to sustain the project as well as HIV/AIDS campaigns and home based care. CIVS/MLTV-19/15: EMMANUEL S NEW HOPE RESCUE CENTER Founded in 2007, The Emmanuel s New Hope Rescue Center (ENHRC) is a community-based organization registered with the aim of giving hope to children whose hope seemed cut off by poverty, crime and HIV/AIDS. The organization started as a support center for orphans and vulnerable children. The main aim was to give them the opportunity to go to school as well as to provide basic needs like food and clothes. In total, ENHRC has 53 kids and 34 of them live at the center. The center has several programs, i.e. a school program, youth program, feeding program and counseling program. The counseling program is the back bone of the entire center. There are volunteers from a church Sunday school who come and talk to those children who have been abused sexually, raped or who are pregnant. MISSION Emmanuel s New Hope Rescue Center aims to give the children a place of peace and happiness where they can grow up in safety and are provided with quality accommodation and basic needs like proper nutrition as well as high-quality education. CIVS/MLTV-20/15: JOYCELAND PREPARATORY SCHOOL Founded in 2004, The Joyceland Preparatory School is a Christian based charity organization formed with the aim of giving less fortunate, vulnerable and disadvantaged children an opportunity of getting rehabilitation and successful education. Currently, the project reaches around 600 orphans, street children and child parents in most parts of Rongo, Awendo town and the rural places around; but the target population is to reach over 1000. The school also aims at providing the children with proper and free education, the Joyceland Family offers activities outside school in order to train their life skills so that they establish self-consciousness and responsibility. Furthermore, they contribute at least one meal a day and school uniforms to the orphans and less fortunate. MISSION To provide and promote quality education and training in order to ensure proper rehabilitation and empowerment of individuals to become competent and responsible persons who value education for life. CIVS/MLTV-21/15: FORTUNE LEARNERS CENTER Founded in December 2013, Fortune Learners Center is a school located in sprawling Kayole Estate, Eastern part of Nairobi. They host nearly 100 children from different backgrounds and the number is constantly rising. The children are aged between three and 12 years and they attend classes 1 to 6. Most of these children are from extremely poor backgrounds. They have seven teachers and eight classes. CIVS/MLTV-22/15: CHILD REGIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT SERVICES (CRESS) Child Regional Education Support Services is a non-profit, Community based organization founded and registered in 2011. It operates in Korogocho, Kariobangi, Mathare and Gomongo slums all located in the Eastern part of Nairobi. Their main objective is to make education accessible to the underprivileged children regardless of their religious, ethnic or racial backgrounds. They also seek to protect the children s rights, build confidence in them and make sure they grow into responsible adults who will bring change in the society. CRESS empowers the community through various interventions by providing Educational Support Services, books and other basic learning materials, sanitary pads, desks, organize Environmental Activities and creates HIV/AIDS Awareness in schools. MISSION To make it possible for the marginalized children and youth access education. CIVS/MLTV-23/15: RISE AND LIGHT ACADEMY Rise and light Academy is located in Mishomoroni slums of Mombasa County. It offers free education to orphans and needy children living in and around the slums. Currently the school has 157 children both orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).It has 5 supportive staff who are all volunteers. It has an organization called rise and light which mobilizes youths from the slum to participate in slum cleanups, rubbish collection and Anti-malaria campaigns. It also conducts child rights awareness and hygiene and sanitation campaigns. MISSION To provide education and protection to orphans & needy children living in slums as well as improving community living standards through awareness PROJECT ACTIVITIES Assisting in teaching at the school subjects such as Mathematics, English, Sciences, Social studies Feeding orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) Organizing sports and extracurricular activities Providing guidance and counseling to the school children Offering health, sanitation and hygiene lessons to the children The project is located in Mishomoroni slums, Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County. CIVS/MLTV-24/15: ST.MICHAELS DAY CARE CENTRE. Established in 2013, St. Michaels Day care is a center, which takes care of children whose parents have menial jobs or no jobs at all and are not able to afford to pay househelps. These mothers have semi-permanent jobs hence have to go looking for work and have no one to look after their children. They also cannot bring their children to their places of work due to various factors like harsh weather, and poor environment. The center also provides basic education to the small children. MISSION To provide favorable and conducive environment for raising up children who are needy.
