About Our Company Bowditch Marine, Inc. (BMI) is a full service, comprehensive Marine Surveying and Consulting company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, with an additional office in Honolulu, Hawaii. We offer general commercial marine surveying and consulting services for all types of commercial maritime interests as well as damage surveys in the areas of cargo, hull and machinery, and other marine property interests. We also provide consulting services to the maritime industry in accordance with the aforementioned areas of expertise. Bowditch Marine Services At Bowditch Marine, our goal is to assist owners, underwriters and other maritime interests with all aspects of protecting their assets. This includes all areas of maritime operations from pre-voyage inspections to post-damage surveys. Specific services include the following: Damage Surveys for cargo, hull, machinery and miscellaneous maritime structures Oil spill and incident response and management Condition and Valuation Surveys of all types of commercial marine vessels Suitability for Tow, On-Hire / Off-Hire General and Particular Average Surveys for cargo or hull interests Draft Surveys, Bunkers and Hatch Sealing Certificates Lashing, securing and specialized services involving high value, overweight or oversized equipment Cargo pre-load, load, stow and discharge examinations, including all dry bulk, refrigerated, hazardous, container and unitized loads Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Loss Control Audits USCG Approved Accepted Organization to conduct biennial examinations of Fish Processing Vessels as required in 46 CFR 28.710 and voluntary examinations of all other Fishing Industry Vessels providing Certificates of Compliance and Decals as appropriate.

About our people Captain Richard Shaw: Experienced Lloyd s Agency Surveyor; Captain Shaw is a 1975 graduate of California Maritime Academy attaining a degree in Nautical Science. He is presently a USCG licensed Unlimited Master and Endorsed Towing Master (for continuity only). Rich served as President of the Washington State Maritime Cooperative and as a USCG approved Instructor in Advanced Fire Fighting, Basic Safety Training, Stability and Ships Construction, Train the Trainer, 40 Hr. HAZMAT Instructor, Incident Command and QI. His experience and training includes all aspects of vessel operations, ship handling, cargo operations, shipyard competent, occupational safety and environmental compliance. Captain Kuhrt Wieneke: Captain Wieneke is dually licensed as both a USCG Master and Engineer to 4000 HP, and earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. His marine surveying experience includes damage assessment and troubleshooting, charter on- and off-hire inspections, cargo damage inspections, investigative analysis, project management and cost estimation with proficiency in diesel propulsion, auxiliary systems, electrical distribution, metal fabrication and wooden ship construction. Kuhrt conducts onboard training exercises in shipboard safety, medical training and fire-fighting. Captain John Kimmerlein: John is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point (1983). John sailed commercially as Relief Master, Chief Mate and/or Second Mate on a variety of vessels including Ro-Ro, dry cargo, and tank vessels and currently holds a USCG Unlimited Master s license (for continuity only). John also spent three years active duty in the US Navy as a surface warfare officer-- primarily as an engineering officer including planning dry dockings in both a graving dock and floating dry dock. Immediately before joining Bowditch, John was a vice president at Hudson Analytix/Hudson Marine where his experience included on-scene oil spill and major incident response. John has worked extensively with shipowner clients to help ensure compliance with US statutes and regulations, in the context of post-casualty or post-incident analysis as well as every-day consultations. He has current certificates for ICS 100 (Incident Command System-Intro), ICS 200 (Incident Command System-Supervisory) and IS-700 (National Incident Management System-Intro) as well as HAZWOPER.

Jennifer Borja: Upon graduating from the California Maritime Academy with a B.A. in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs in 2007, Jennifer returned to her home State of Hawaii to jumpstart her career in the Maritime world with Norton Lilly International, Inc. During her tenure with Norton Lilly, Jennifer worked in various capacities including vessel agency work in both the commercial marine and private pleasure craft sides of the industry. Jennifer held the position of Port Manager of the Guam and Western Pacific Regions and eventually, Commercial Manager of the Pacific Region. Jennifer joins Bowditch with knowledge and skills in the areas of Marine Operations and Management, Liner Operations, Supply Chain Logistics, Quality Assurance Management and Global Marketing and Sales. Paul Fredrickson: A graduate of the University of Washington (Fine Arts), Paul Fredrickson has over three decades of experience working in the marine industry in the Pacific Northwest. Progressing from apprentice shipwright to recognized yacht designer and project manager (both in-house and independently) Paul has worked with the very best Pacific Northwest design professionals and boatyards. Working in all construction materials and methods, he has successfully completed commercial fishing, small passenger ferries and superyacht builds ranging up to 50 meters L.O.A. Included in this collection is authorship of thirteen custom yachts from 80 to 130 feet. One such vessel was a finalist for the 2011 World Superyacht Industry Award. Paul has managed new build and haulout/repair boatyards, and his practical experience includes meeting ABYC, USCG, ABS, Lloyds and RINA Class Requirements. With a sailing history of one design and thousands of miles of ocean racing competition, Paul enjoys highly caffeinated beverages served at near scalding temperatures. Captain Mike Ahearn: Growing up on the water in Huntington Harbor, California, where his father was Commodore of the Huntington Harbor Yacht Club, Mike divided his time off between surfing Southern California s beaches, and sailing and racing small boats. He joined the US Navy in 1977. After six years as a Boatswains Mate and Special Boat Operator, Mike began his commercial seagoing career with Military Sealift Command and has worked mostly military and government contract vessels ever since. Starting out commercially as an unlicensed Able Bodied Seaman, Mike has come up through the ranks to obtain a USCG Unlimited Tonnage License and has worked in every shipboard capacity from the deck to the wheelhouse. For

several years Mike sailed as either Captain, Chief Mate or Second Mate aboard NOAA contracted Research Vessels including two years in Antarctica and most recently, transiting the globe setting, maintaining and recovering Tsunami, Hurricane and Weather Data Buoys for NOAA. Mike also lived aboard, maintained and cruised his own yacht from 2004 until 2015 and has done several deliveries of private yachts worldwide. Steve Kennebeck: Steve oversees the consulting aspects of Bowditch Marine. He is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point (1981). He has worked in virtually all aspects of the Marine Insurance field over the past 34 years. From 1999 through 2002, Steve was President of International Specialty Claims (ISC), a marine insurance claims and risk management consulting company. Prior to ISC, he held the position of Director of Insurance and Claims for Tyson Seafood Group (1992-1998) where he was responsible for managing the Claims, Safety, Training, Human Resources and Risk Management areas of the Seafood Group (36 vessels, 1250 Jones Act Seamen). From 1994 to 1998, he served on the Board of Directors of the company s captive insurance company domiciled in Bermuda. From 1987 through 1992, Steve was the National Ocean Marine Claims Manager for St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company where he was responsible for overseeing the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of all Hull, P&I, Cargo and Excess Liability claims within the company. Office Staff Charlotte Murdock: Charlotte comes to Bowditch with nearly a decade of experience in assisting Marine Surveyors with editing and producing reports, as well as general office management. She has a background in supporting English as a Second Language students with writing papers and locating resources during her employment at North Seattle Community College as the Assistant to the Director of Humanities. In addition, she is a proud mother and great lover of nature. Lucy Keegan-Boes: Lucy is a Seattle native who graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL with a Bachelor s of Science in Nursing. After working for the VA Medical Center for 4 years she decided to take a break from nursing to join the Bowditch Marine team. Lucy now supports the Bowditch team with administrative assistance. She is also an animal lover and enjoys spending time in the garden.
