To be eligible for federal and state financial aid programs, students are required by the U.S. Department of Education and the State of California to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress Working towards completing an educational objective certificate, AA/S, AA-T/AA-S degrees, and or a transfer program 11/19/2015 3
Maintain 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) Complete 67% of all units attempted Have not earned an AA, AS, or higher degree outside of LACCD Have less than 90 units attempted Complete educational goal within maximum time frame (MTF) 11/19/2015 4
All students who apply for, receive, and/or wish to receive financial aid are affected by SAP policy and requirements. SAP is monitored at the end of each pay period: (LACCD: Fall/Winter, Spring, Summer) All courses and units count even if you were not receiving financial aid Courses taken at any of the LACCD s 9 campuses count towards your enrollment status and disbursement amount 11/19/2015 5
If your cumulative grade point average drops below a 2.25(FA14) you will be placed on financial aid probation If you do not complete a minimum of 70% (FA14) of the cumulative units you attempted Incomplete (INC), No Credit (NCR), and Withdrawal (W) grades are considered non-grades and must be 30% or less than the units attempted If you have attempted over 90 units and or have already completed a Associates degree or higher outside of the LACCD Only one appeal will be considered for this requirement 11/19/2015 6
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012 (Public Law 112-74) made significant changes to federal student financial assistance programs. Starting in 2012-2013 academic year, the student s eligibility to receive Federal Pell Grant is reduced to 12 semesters at full time enrollment (or equivalent of six years, or 600%). Always bring a copy of your unofficial transcripts from all universities and colleges attended Submit a Transcript Evaluation Form for all classes completed outside of the district Have a copy of official transcripts mailed to the Admissions Office from all colleges attended Take Math and English assessment tests prior to your SEP appointment Start reviewing universities, majors and courses (General Education) you want to take prior to your appointment Look at the General Education courses on the GE Documents (UC/IGETC, CSU/GE Breadth: Research the courses you are interested in taking so you can discuss with the Counselor during your appointment This will also depend on your major 11/19/2015 10
