Page 3 of 32 1. GENERAL REGULATIONS 1.1. The Director of Student Affairs and the Director of Education and Research are jointly responsible for preparing the Högskolan Dalarna System of Qualification. The document is formally approved by the Vice-Chancellor. 1.2 Degree certificates are issued by the Vice-Chancellor of Högskolan Dalarna, or by any other person to whom the right to issue degree certificates has been delegated. 1.3 Högskolan Dalarna may award the first, second and third-cycle qualifications specified in this document (please also see the transitional provisions in appendix 3). 1.4 The degree certificate is a document of value, of which only one original document will be issued. A new degree certificate can, however, be issued if a person s sex or Swedish personal identity number has been changed. If a degree certificate has been lost, the student can obtain a certified copy of the copy kept in the Högskolan Dalarna archives. 1.5 A student can only obtain more than one (1) qualification with the same title if the main field of study differs. 1.6 In order for a student to obtain more than one (1) Lärarexamen (Bachelor/Master of Education) SFS 2001:23 within the same area of activities, the qualifications must be placed within different cycles. 1.7 Högskolan Dalarna may decide to withdraw the right to issue qualifications within a certain main field of study. Students who fulfill the qualification requirements within the main field of study prior to the date of withdrawal, has the right to obtain a qualification within that main field of study even after the withdrawal. 1.8 An application for a degree certificate shall be made by completing the proper application form and submitting it to the graduation officers at Högskolan Dalarna. 1.9 The degree certificates of Högskolan Dalarna are issued in Swedish with a translation into English included in the same document. 1.10 Every qualification requires an exact number of credits. If the exact requirement can not be met, due to the fact that a student has obtained more credits than required for the qualification, one course with an exceeding number of credits may be included in the degree certificate. The total number of credits of that additional course will however not be included in the total sum of credits comprised by the qualification. 1.11 In the degree certificate Högskolan Dalarna will specify the courses that are included in the qualification, the number of credits, grades and dates and, where relevant, previous education or activities that have been accepted for credit. 1.12 Students who have completed an educational programme may, on request, have the name of that programme stated in their degree certificate if they have completed all requirements as specified in the syllabus for the programme that the student has been admitted to. 1.13 Courses that are to be included in a degree must be at the Swedish university level. The student must have received passing grades for these courses and, as a rule, the courses must be completed. Only in cases of exception can a module that is part of an incomplete course be given credit towards a degree. The student must have been awarded a passing grade for the module, and the module must be clearly definable and have its only learning objectives. 1.14 A course that has been credited in its entirety will not be graded. Instead of a grade that course will be marked with a T in the degree certificate along with an explanatory footnote. 1.15 Courses with overlapping content may not be included in the same qualification.

Page 4 of 32 1.16 A Master (60 credits) degree may, apart from second-cycle qualification courses, include firstcycle qualification courses comprising a maximum of 15 credits.
