Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the University of Kansas School of Education Health, Sport, and Exercise Science Exercise Science 2016-2017 Catalog CONTACT: Sonja Heath, Senior Advising Coordinator PHONE: (785) 864-9616 E-MAIL: soeadvising@ku.edu HOME PAGE: www.soe.ku.edu The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the A.A. may select courses that satisfy both the A.A. degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the A.A. allows students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The A.A. degree requires completion of 64 credit hours, the maximum number of hours from a community college that will be applied toward a bachelor s degree at most four-year schools. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses Admission for all School of Education programs is competitive. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Minimum cumulative and core GPAs of 2.75 (includes all transfer hours). A minimum of 30 hours required for admission to the School of Education. Deadline for all applications is February 1 for fall admission and mid-september for spring admission. Check www.soe.ku.edu for more information. Effective Fall 2014, transfer grades of D or below will not be accepted Minimum total hours for graduation is 120. The Exercise Science program prepares individuals for careers in physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning. Sixty-four credits may be transferred to KU from community colleges. Students should be aware that 45 junior/senior credit hours are required for completion of the bachelor s degree; 30 of those hours must be at KU; and community college courses do not transfer as junior/senior hours.
