ScanShell.Net Install Guide Please install the software first - DO NOT PLUG IN THE SCANNER The scanner has been carefully packaged to avoid damage during transportation. Before operating the scanner, please remove the packaging materials. After removing the packaging materials, you will find the following: - Scanner - USB interface cable - Calibration paper - Cleaning paper - Cardboard CD with the website to download the software - Sticker with software license key found on the sleeve of the box 1. Visit the website: http://autorun.card-reader.com/
2. Please enter the license key and click Submit. The license key is a series of 16 characters (combination of numbers and letters) printed on a sticker placed on the box the scanner came in. Make sure to type the letters in capital form (BIG LETTERS). 3. Click Download ScanShell.NET software and save the setup file on the desktop.
4. Click the ScanShell.Net setup file to start the installation. 5. If prompted by Windows User Account Control click Yes to allow changes to your computer.
6. Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 is needed in order for ScanShell.Net to install. If you do not have Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 click Yes to install. 7. Click Yes to install the Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 package.
8. Read the license Agreement and select I agree then click Install. 9. Click Ok when the Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 installation is complete.
10. Please follow the instructions on the installation window (close programs you have running) and click Next. 11. Please read the End User Software License Agreement and click Next.
12. Click the Next button for the default Destination Folder, or Browse to choose and customize a folder of your choice. 13. Check the scanner model you have purchased and click Next.
14. Click Next to select the Program Manager Group if you do not know your Manager Group, simply click Next and the system will default to the ScanShell.Net folder it will create on your C Drive. 15. Please check the option to create a shortcut on your desktop.
16. If prompted by Windows Security, select the check box for Always trust software from CSSN. 17. Then click Install
18. Click Finish to complete and exit the installation process.
You are now ready to install the hardware. Please PLUG the scanner into a free USB port (if installing on a desktop computer, please choose a USB port located on the back of the computer). 1. When this screen appears, please choose No, not this time and click Next. 2. Please choose the Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next.
Important Note: Windows 2000 & XP users: If you receive a warning during installation stating This hardware has not passed Windows Logo testing or The software does not contain a Microsoft digital signature please select Continue anyway or Yes (continue the installation). This is merely a logo recognition issue. All our scanners have been tested and fully comply with the USB.org test standards. All our products have been proven to work well with all of the windows operating systems for which they are fitted (some of our products are not compatible with the Vista 64 Bit operating system). Windows Vista and Window 7 users: If you receive a warning during installation stating Windows can t verify the publisher of this driver software please select Install this driver software anyway. You are now ready to configure and start using ScanShell.Net 1. Please locate and double-click the ScanShell.Net icon to start the application. 2. Please enter the license key and click Submit. 3. Click the New Database key to configure the ScanShell.Net database. 4. Then click the Browse button to create a path for the database to save the information.
5. Please define a location to save in and the file name it will be saved as then click Save. 6. The configuration window will appear, please make sure the options for the items you wish to scan (such as ID s, Business Cards, Medical Insurance Cards Etc.) are checked, do not check options you are not intending to use as it might slow the system down. Then click Next.
7. Please check the fields you want to appear in the database the defaulted checked fields can be un-checked. Then click on the Add All button to apply the fields and click Next. 8. Repeat step 6 for each module of the data base (Business cards, Medical Insurance cards Etc.). 9. Click the Add button to create user profiles
10. Please enter a User Name and Password of your choice and click Ok (the default user in the system is CSSN, please do not erase this user, it is for future Tech Support Use If Necessary). 11. Click the Finish button.
12. Use the Select Data button to pick which database to open. 13. Browse to the location of the database that you wish to use and click Open.
14. Enter your user name and password and click Login 15. Under the Tools Menu select Calibrate Scanner.
16. Please insert the calibration sheet. Make sure the black lines are facing down (if printed only on one side) and the arrows are facing into the scanner and press the OK button. 17. Click Ok when the Calibration process is complete.
18. Insert the item to be scanned face down in to the scanner. 19. After scanning make sure the information is correct, make changes and add information as you wish in each field and click Ok to save the entry
20. You can select any entry by highlighting it on the top of the window to view and/or doubleclicking on it and opening the editing window to make changes/additions to the information. You are now ready to enjoy ScanShell.Net by Card Scanning Solutions.
