Leading the world Developed in Australia, civilcad 6 is a unique and powerful software application for Surveying and Civil Engineering professionals. With its powerful and easy to use tools, civilcad 6 is used locally and internationally by both private enterprises and government authorities. Supported by highly trained support team and extensive training classes, transition to civilcad 6 will be simple and rewarding. Flexibility Available in Base or Survey Standard or Survey Professional series with different modules add-ons to suit your technical requirement and budget. Performance - Reliability - Simplicity - Compatibility Civilcad version 6 Developed in Australia, civilcad as a unique and powerful software application for surveying and Civil Engineering professionals. Since its inception in 1982, civilcad has been used extensively in Australia and internationally for topographic survey, road and drainage design, terrain modeling and volume calculations. Civilcad is acknowledged as one of the leading PC packages of its type. In a move destined to expand its world markets, civilcad joined the Topcon Corporation in 1989 and is now owned and developed by Topcon Positioning Systems (Aust) Pty Ltd. Civilcad is used by private enterprises, surveying companies and government authorities. It allows quick and easy adaptation by the new user to the efficiency of computer aided design. For many years civilcad software has provided the nucleus for civil design within Australian and international Surveying and Civil Engineering companies. Users have been able to utilise the extensive range of options within civilcad, and provide themselves with a valuable competitive edge! Civilcad 6 provides the user with a powerful and easy to use tool for design in many surveying and civil areas. Civilcad has unlimited undo/redo and can display unlimited views simultaneously. This allows multiple jobs to be viewed. Civilcad 6 can also export various CAD file formats like DXF, DWG and GENIO.

Survey Module The Survey module uses a unique Neutral Editor for viewing and processing surveyed data. It also has a comprehensive and easy to use Properties Bar. Extensive cogo functions are available for geometric computation and data creation. Included also are fast generation of digital terrain model with one-button breakline insertion and rigorous volume computations. Survey Module Within the survey module you can carry out data reduction for both total station data collectors and manually entered data. You can do all your co-ordinate geometry, terrain modeling, volume calculations and survey plotting. This module also functions as a compiler and editor of drawings. It will accept and merge drawings from all of the civilcad modules and allows for preview and graphical editing to take place before plotting. Survey Data Collection Data entry is available via keyboard input, data collector, mouse, or imported files including ASCII file, DWG file, DXF file, and MOSS files. Co-ordinate Geometry Standard features such as traversing, radiating and computing arcs are combined with a full range of intersection calculations, layer control, text annotation facilities, plot windows and comprehensive editing capabilities to provide a powerful graphical computation and presentation tool. Terrain Modeling The basis of civilcad's terrain modeling routines is the fast generation of a triangular digital terrain model. The formation of the triangles is a one button operation, with nominated break lines being incorporated into the model upon triangulation. Volumes Civilcad's volumes include rigorous solutions without assumptions or Interpolation. Results can be computed from at least two methods ensuring an independent check on results. All earthworks are computed within specific boundaries, and all methods provide both total cut and total fill.

Roads Module The Roads module utilises a 3-panel view which displays plan, long section and cross section simultaneously. Powerful string and template design which can handle an unlimited number of strings. A curve length calculator is provided to simplify vertical curve design. Incorporates all facilities needed to design a simple road right thru to multilane divided highway. Roads Module The civilcad Roads module incorporates all the facilities you need to design a simple rural road or accomplish an intricate design for a multi-lane divided highway. The module is equally adept at handling the most complex road reconstruction project. You can use a wide range of data entry methods and specify the longitudinal and cross section plotting parameters to suit your own requirements. 3 PANEL VIEW The Roads module uses a 3-panel view displaying the alignment, long section and cross section on the same screen. 3 Panel View DATA ENTRY The natural or existing surface can be defined using a level-book data entry or cross sections extracted from a triangular mesh, string lines or XYZ field data. CROSS SECTION DESIGN Design is achieved using templates. Templates may be stored for each job in a library. Separate tables are used to define table drains, batters by grade, fixed width or compound batters. Template changes are achieved by the use of tables to define super-elevation, lane widening, and centre line shift on curves in accordance with road authority standards. Multiple design surfaces are possible allowing creation of various sub-grade surfaces. LONG SECTION DESIGN Vertical alignment design is possible for multiple strings with templates applied to any of the strings. Options for creating and editing vertical alignments include Add IP by grade, chainage and grade, or intersection of grades, with the provision to edit IP's interactively.

Drainage Module The drainage module is designed to compute overland flow and pipe sizing for networks with one outlet. Overland flows and hydrological data are computed using the Rational Method, with pipe sizes and inverts being calculated by the Hydraulic Grade Line Method. The user-defined library allows for local rainfall intensities, pipe types and sizes, kerb and channel profiles and other data to be used. Drainage Module The Drainage module in civilcad is designed to compute overland flow and pipe sizing for networks with one outlet. Overland flows and hydrological data are computed using the Rational Method, with pipe sizes and inverts being calculated by the Hydraulic Grade Line Method. General Features Computes Time of concentration, gutter and pipe flows HGL & pipe sizes with formatted reports Graphical grading with the allowance for obstructions and services Full computation of gutter flows widths and gutter depths Allows checking of existing systems Calculation of flows for several return periods and HGL checking Backwater calculations (BWHGL) Plotting of long sections and calculation sheets Curved pipes Long section plotting showing BWHGL, two natural surfaces, invert levels, obstructions, optional velocity, grade, sizes etc Data Entry The main plan of the network is constructed in the Survey module using points and lines editing tools, before importing into the Drainage Module for designing. Natural or existing surface levels can be extracted from the Digital Terrain Model in Survey. If no model exists, then pit and terrain levels can be manually entered based on a chainage along each pipe reach. Obstructions created from such things as services are also catered for by the software. Minimum clearances can be applied for the network to avoid the obstruction. Plan View of Drainage network

Design All drainage design is an interactive graphical process User defined flows or overland flows can be used for analysis Rational Method used for hydrological calculations User defined gutter profiles User defined pit inlets Pipe sizes determined by the Hydraulic Grade Line Method Pipe Design screen Plotting Reports can be printed or plotted to a calc sheet in the Drawing Editor All reports are user configurable Long sections of each network branch are plotted to the Drawing Editor for further modifications and additions etc Long section plots show : HGL Two natural surfaces Invert levels Obstructions Optional velocity, grade & pipe sizes Sewer Module The Sewer Module is designed to perform the following basic functions : Enter sufficient data to describe an urban sewerage network with one outfall per pipe network Interactively design the pipes to obtain the optimum combination of pipe slope and depth Produce plots of the longitudinal sections for each line Data Entry Users of the Drainage module will appreciate that the Sewer module requires it's own network data to be set up exactly the same as for drainage. The networks can only have one outfall, but multiple networks can be included in each job. The main difference in the network setup are the use of BCIL ( Block Control Invert Level ) points. These are optional, but are very useful in designing the main sewer line in relation to the connection level at the drain point. When using BCIL, civilcad designs the sewer pipe low enough to cater for a specified minimum depth and grade from the drain point of the house. Sewer Network Design

Design Users of the Drainage module will appreciate that the Sewer module requires it's own network data to be set up exactly the same as for drainage. The networks can only have one outfall, but multiple networks can be included in each job. Sewer Pipe Design civilcad Sewer design is not based on any flows. The designing process allows you to alter the size and position of each pipe based on certain constraints (eg. minimum slope, minimum clearance, etc). BCIL Design

Plotting The Sewer Module plots long sections into the Drawing Editor so that plan drawings can be merged onto the sheet or additional text notes can be added. The long section output format is fully user definable by setting up pre-defined ASCII format files to reflect the style of output you require. Several sample files are provided with the software for plotting use or to have as examples. Any or all of the following attributes are able to be plotted : Pipes (showing diameters and lengths) Two surface profiles Manholes (including depths, invert and cover levels) Obstructions BCIL location and level Examples of two different format styles for plotting long sections The general interface of the Sewer package is basically the same as for Drainage, therefore reducing the time required to learn a new section of the software.

The Drawing Editor The drawing editor is used to preview and edit the drawing before final plotting. For example, the user can merge a plan view with a longitudinal section, load in a text file, and position each element of the drawing to achieve the desired result. Plan produced from the Drawing Editor showing a Plan View and corresponding Long Section for a new road design Long Section Plan including Plan View and Cross Sections
