MIDDLE/SENIOR GIRLS Headbands/Scrunchies: The only acceptable headbands and scrunchies are Black Watch plaid, black, hunter green or navy blue. Tweeds and More Tweeds and More is a uniform store located in the school and is operated by dedicated volunteers of the Parents Organization of Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (POSTS). The store specializes in the resale of nearly new consignment uniform items and the sale of new polo shirts, physical education uniforms, ties, socks, tights, kilt pins and school crests. All of the items mentioned are generally available although stock varies. Tweeds and More is the sole supplier of Senior School ties, polo shirts and physical education uniforms. All of the profits earned at Tweeds and More are reinvested back in the school as a donation to the Head s Initiatives for priority needs of STS. Personal Appearance Hair must be neat. Exotic hair colour is not allowed. Boys must keep their hair neatly trimmed above the collar and must be clean-shaven. The School tie must be tied so that the knot covers the button at the throat. The knot must be of a reasonable size. The tie must not be frayed or in poor repair. Shirts must be buttoned when worn with a tie. The top button only is undone when no tie is worn. The sleeves on long sleeve shirts must be worn down and buttoned. Blazers must be clean and pressed. They are to be worn buttoned on formal occasions. Socks must be of the specified colour. Shoes must be as specified. A spare pair of school shoes must be available. No runners may be worn except for physical education classes and outdoor activities. Some jewelry is permitted. Girls are permitted to wear small gold studs or hoops, one per ear. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings at school. Body piercing (e.g. eyebrows, nose, lips, etc.) and tattoos are not permitted. Regulation physical education clothing shall be worn to all physical education classes from Grades 1 to 9 whether indoors or outdoors. Outdoor running shoes are not allowed in the gyms. There shall be no jewelry worn in Physical Education classes. Physical Education Uniform All students must also have the STS physical education uniform. It consists of a house t-shirt, navy shorts (two styles available cotton or dazzle shorts), and plain white socks. Each student will be assigned to one of four houses. Dover (navy), Howard (grey), Buchan (maroon), or Burns (green). Their t-shirt colour is determined by their house placement. An optional long sleeved navy t-shirt is also available to Middle and Senior School students. In addition, a grey hoodie sweatshirt and navy sweatpants are available as part of the physical education uniform. These outdoor physical education uniform items (pants and top) are optional for the Middle and Senior School students. Senior School students are required to wear their house shirt and school shorts wherever relevant. Many activities are off-campus and require a specific uniform for that activity. As such, the teacher will provide the information when the activity arises.
