EPREUVE D EXPRESSION ORALE SAVOIR et SAVOIR-FAIRE Pour présenter la notion -The notion I m going to deal with is The idea of progress / Myths and heroes Places and exchanges / Seats and forms of powers -The subject of my oral presentation will be -I m going to speak about -My topic is.. -I would like to illustrate this notion through / using the theme of modernity and tradition in Britain -I will present this notion by showing the relationship between man and machine -I feel this notion is best illustrated by trying to see if all citizens are on an equal footing in India today -I believe this notion is best tackled (traitée) by asking the following question: Are counterpowers growing in influence? Pour introduire les documents et les exemples -In the document/text studied about blacklisting in America.. -The extract focuses on / is centered on / deals with the issue of the power of the Internet -A good example of modernity/in Britain is.. -Let s take the case of girls in India. -For instance / for example in the film Robot -In particular / particularly -..such as.. -What is at work here is..(ce qui se joue ici c est.) -What is at stake here is..(ce qui est en jeu ici c est ) -What is at issue here is (Ce don t il est question ici c est) -The issue here is that of (Le problème posé ici porte sur..)

Pour ordonner ses idées -to begin with / to start with / first of all -Secondly -then next afterward -Finally / eventually Pour comparer /opposer des documents ou points de vue -Similarly -Just like -On the one hand / On the other (hand) -Contrary to / unlike -While / whereas Pour formuler une hypothèse -It seems to me that... -It's hard to say but I think... -It looks like (ressembler) a... -It looks as if / as though.. -I'd say.. -It must / might / could/ can't be... -I don't think it...because...

Exprimer une opinion I think, I guess, I reckon Personally speaking... Speaking personally... Personally... In my opinion... From what I know... As far as I'm concerned / I know...(autant que je sache) I've never thought about it, but I suppose.. I don't really like...but if I had to choose... It's very difficult to say, but I think... I'm not sure.. It is probably.. Perhaps./maybe it is.. Pour préciser ou compléter ses idées -Actually(en fait), what I mean is -In other words, what I would like to say is.. -To put it differently (pour dire les choses autrement), what I really mean to say was.. -To put it more precisely.. -Moreover / what s more.. -Besides (d ailleurs) -As regards/regarding (en ce qui concerne) Pour résumer vos idées -To sum up the main ideas.. -So, if we summarise... -On the whole (dans l ensemble), it could be said that -Last but not least (dernier point, mais non des moindres), it may be said.. -To conclude / In conclusion, I could say that.. -To put it in a nutshell (pour résumer) -On balance (tout bien considéré, à tout prendre) -At the end of the day (en definitive) -When all is said and done (tout compte fait, au bout du compte)

SAVOIR-ETRE: soyez convaincant(e) STRATEGIES A ADOPTER DONNER DES EXAMPLES -Let s take an example -For instance / for example REFORMULER OU REPETER SI VOUS AVEZ L IMPRESSION DE NE PAS AVOIR ETE COMPRIS(E) -I must explain.. -In other words -Let s put it differently -I ll make myself clear -Do I make myself understood? UTILISER DES EXPRESSIONS QUI EXPRIMENT VOTRE FORTE CONVICTION -It s true to say and yet(et pourtant) -I m quite sure that. -I'm quite certain that... -I m convinced that.. -I do believe that.. -Well, you can t have it both ways=il faut choisir -Actually I feel quite strongly that... -I know for a fact that... -I really don't think it's right that -Could I just add that... -We cannot deny it. -There s no denying that (on ne peut nier que ) -We can t help thinking of (on ne peut pas s empêcher de penser à) -We can t fail to notice that (on ne peut pas manquer de remarquer que)

UTILISER DES EXPRESSIONS QUI INVITENT AU DEBAT -How come that.. (comment se fait-il que)? -We can wonder (se demander) / ask ourselves why. -Well, we can wonder how far=to what extent=in what way (dans quelle mesure/dans/sous quelle condition )+S+V -This is a much debated /much talked about problem, isn t it? -That s fair enough (très bien, d accord) but don t you think that PONCTUER CERTAINS DE VOS ENONCES PAR DES TAGS. DANS LA PLUPART DES CAS LE TAG N EST PAS UNE VRAIE QUESTION. L INTONATION EST DESCENDANTE. -Global warming is a major issue, isn t it? (vous en convenez, convenons en) -Most people would agree with that, wouldn t they? - Let's see what the good points are, shall we? - Let's talk about...first, shall we? SOUVENEZ VOUS QU EN ANGLAIS LES INTERRO-NEGATIVES SONT FREQUENTES DANS LES DEBATS -Isn t it incredibly unfair to tax them? -Shouldn t the government be doing more? DEMANDER DE L AIDE OU DES PRECISIONS -I m sorry, what did you say? -Could you repeat, please, -I m sorry, I didn t hear what you said. Excuse me, I didn t understand what you said by? -I m sorry, I don t see what you mean.

EXPRIMER VOTRE ACCORD OU VOTRE DESACCORD DE FACON AUTHENTIQUE ACCORD -That's a good point (C est une bonne remarque, c est un bon argument) -I couldn't have put it better myself (Je n'aurais pu mieux le dire moi-même) -I couldn't agree more. (je suis tout à fait d accord) -I'm sure you're right. -I hadn't thought of that. -What a good idea! -Exactly! -fair enough!(très bien, d accord)! -point taken! (c est juste!) DESACCORD -I see what you mean, but don't you think... -Yes, but isn't it true that.. -I'm sure that's wrong, -I don't think I would go along with that -You have a point here, but I think -I think that might be a bit difficult if... -I'm sorry but I can't agree. -That's a good point but.. -I think we have to agree to disagree (je prends acte de/j accepte nos divergences de vue, Je constate nos differences)
