Tech Note 338 How to Change the ActiveFactory Reporting Website Default Install Location All Tech Notes and KBCD documents and software are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. See the Terms of Use for more information. Topic#: 001170 C reated: January, 2004 Introduction This document outlines how to move the default installation location of the ActiveFactory Reporting Website. The Reporting Website will install under the default file location where Internet Information Services (IIS) has been installed. This will normally be the same partition as the operating system is installed. Most installations of the Reporting Website are installed to the following directory: C:\InetPub\wwwroot\AFWeb The following steps explain how you can move the location of AFReporting Website to any drive/disk partition on the same computer. Confirm the Installation Location 1. Confirm the installed location of the Reporting Website using Windows Explorer. In Figure 1 (below) the Website is called AFWebNew: FIGURE 1: AF WEB DEFAULT INSTALLATION Stop the ActiveFactory Report Automation Service https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 1/8

1. Right- click My Computer (on the desktop) and select Manage. 2. Expand the Services and Applications icon. 3. Highlight Services. 4. Right- click ActiveFactory Report Automation Service and select Stop (Figure 2 below): FIGURE 2: AF REPORT AUTOMATION SERVICE Stop the Internet Information Services (IIS) 1. Expand the Services and Applications icon, then right- click Internet Information Services. 2. Select Restart IIS... from the sub- menu. 3. Select Stop Internet Services on <machinename> from the drop- down list (Figure 3 below): https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 2/8

FIGURE 3: STOP IIS 4. Move all of the files installed with the Reporting Website to the new location where you want to have the Reporting Website to reside. In Figure 4, the files have been moved to E:\NewReportingWebsite\AFWebNew: FIGURE 4: NEW FILE LOCATION Change the Virtual Directory Path This task modifies the Local Path for the website AFWebNew by using the Properties dialog of the Default Website. https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 3/8

1. Maximize the Computer Management window. 2. Expand the Default Web Site icon and select AFWebNew. 3. Right- click AFWebNew and select Properties from the sub- menu (Figure 5 below): FIGURE 5: AFWEBNEW PROPERTIES The AFWebNew Properties dialog box appears (Figure 6 below): FIGURE 6: DEFAULT LOCAL PATH SETTING 4. Change the Local Path: setting within the Virtual Directory tab field (Figure 7 below): https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 4/8

FIGURE 7: NEW LOCAL PATH SETTING 5. Restart IIS by right- clicking Internet Information Services and selecting Restart IIS from the sub- menu (Figure 8 below): FIGURE 8: RESTART IIS 6. Restart the AF Report Automation Service (Right-click/Start): https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 5/8

FIGURE 9: RESTART AF REPORT AUTOMATION SERVICE 7. Open the AF Reporting Website in your browser: FIGURE 10: ACTIVEFACTORY REPORTING WEB SITE HOME PAGE Confirm Automatic Configuration Updates The action of opening the Reporting Website causes the Report Automation subsystem to update its configuration. The following configuration updates occur automatically: Update information about this specific Reporting Website in the IndustrialSQL Server that it is installed against (the entry in the table dwreportsite in the Runtime database which specifies where the database is installed); Configuration data in the file ReportSitesInfo.xml which is located in a directory called \ReportAutomation under the install location of ActiveFactory (Figure 11 below): https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 6/8

FIGURE 11: REPORTSITESINFO.XML Confirm the Website has been correctly moved by looking in the Windows Application Event Log. Figure 12 (below) shows the default location in the Event Properties dialog box: FIGURE 12: APPLICATION EVENT LOG ENTRIES (DEFAULT) Looking at the same log entry after restarting the website shows the following information in the ReportPathRoot line: https://wdnresource.wonderware.com/support/kbcd/html/1/t001170.htm 7/8
