Admission Criteria An architecture and architecture-related GPA of 2.70 and a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 is required for admission consideration, with competitive admission on a space-available basis. Applicants must also submit the required Academic Letter of Recommendation form attached to the BSArch Undergraduate Transfer and Re-Entry Application. Portfolio Submit a portfolio of your work as described below. Please note: if you have LITTLE or NO EXPERIENCE in college-level art or architecture studios and wish to enter the FIRST YEAR OF THE STUDIO SEQUENCE, A PORTFOLIO IS NOT REQUIRED. All portfolio material for possible advanced studio placement consideration must be a hard bound portfolio and must not be more than one inch thick, nor more than 9" x 12" in overall size. The applicant's name must be clearly visible on the binding. Slides, videotapes, or computer disks are not acceptable. Electronic or digital portfolios are not accepted via SlideRoom. Portfolios submitted by email are not accepted. Applicants should adhere to the transfer student portfolio checklist on page 3, as this determines possible eligibility for advanced studio placement consideration in University at Buffalo Architecture. Contents of the portfolio should include copies of architectural and design work done in academic settings, during actual practice, or as studio projects. You also may include any work in the visual arts. In any case, submit work that represents your best creative ability and interests. Applicants should adhere to the transfer student portfolio checklist on page 3, as this determines possible eligibility for advanced studio placement consideration in University at Buffalo Architecture. All work must include the name of the applicant, date of work, and an indication of whether the work was an academic, professional, or studio project. If the item is part of a group effort, the specific role of the applicant should be identified. Upon completion of the admissions process, the portfolio or other material(s) may be claimed in person. Due to postal regulations we are unable to return design portfolios by mail. All submitted portfolios become a part of a transfer applicant s admission file and must remain on file for 6 years with the University at Buffalo as per federal regulations.
