SINGAPORE MALAYSIA CROSS BORDER TRADING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Account Opening Q1 How do I open a Malaysia online trading account with www.apexetrade.com? Clients are required to maintain a trading account and a Central Depository Account with us. Copy of the account opening form can be downloaded from Getting Started. For assistance, you may contact our Customer Service Representatives by dialing our toll free number 800-1860-080. (from Singapore) or 03-8739 1118. In accordance to bursa rules, all applications that are remotely signed, require endorsement by a Notary Public unless in the presence of our Dealer s Representative. The following documents are required to open an account. Identification Card for Singaporeans and Malaysians Passports for foreigners. Work and Re-entry Permits (for foreigners other than Malaysians working in Singapore) Bank Account Number Upon completion of the account opening form, you are advised to register at www.apexetrade.com before you can trade online. Q2 Q3 Q4 Will there be any charges for using the online services or research materials? No, it is absolutely free of charge! Who can apply for a Malaysia trading account? Anyone above the age of 18 years old subjected to non delinquent record, non insolvent or non blacklisted What type of trading account can I open? You are encourage to open Securitised Trading Account. For further details you may contact our Customer Service Representatives at toll free number 800-1860-080. Q5 Q6 How long does it take to have my trading account activated? 3 working days subject to completion of documentation. If I am using the online trading service, can I also trade through my dealer representative via telephone? Yes, you may also opt to trade through your dealer s representative via telephone and vice versa.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Trading Matters Q1 Q2 How can I start to trade with www.apexetrade.com? You can start to trade with us by opening a Securitised Account with a minimum initial sum of SGD1,000. (Please refer to FAQ-settlement on how to deposit the initial sum so that you can start trading) We will give you a trading limit of 4 times of your initial sum. You would also need to open a Nominees CDS account which we will open for you automatically. Until December 2006, the CDS fee is waived. What is the trading hours of Bursa Malaysia? Monday to Friday at the following sessions:- Morning Session 9.00am to 12.30pm Afternoon Session 2.30pm to 5.00 pm Q3 Q4 Q5 Q6 Q7 Q8 There will be no trading on Malaysian public holidays and also when Bursa Malaysia committee declares that the exchange is closed. Trading might also be stopped when the circuit breaker is triggered. What is a Circuit Breaker? This is a market-wide approach to manage downward movement of the barometer index by halting trading temporarily in the entire market during normal trading hours. It will be triggered when the KLCI declines 10%, 15% and 20% below its closing index of the previous market day. What will happen to the investor s orders in the event the Circuit Breaker is triggered? All matched orders will remain valid. Unmatched orders entered into the trading system will continue to be in the order queue when the Circuit Breaker is triggered at the 10% and 15% levels. Unmatched orders will be removed from the system when the Circuit Breaker is triggered at the 20% level. How do I submit my orders? You may submit your orders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via www.apexetrade.com, our online trading portal. When the market is in session, your order(s) will be routed directly to the dealer's representative. However, if the market is closed, your order(s) will be routed to the dealer's representative in the next session when the market resumes trading. How will I know that my trade has been submitted? When an order is successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation and an order number will be assigned to that order. The order will have the status of "Pending Dealer" in the Pending Order screen. How do I know that my trades/ orders have been executed? Upon receiving your orders through the Internet, it will be directly sent to the Exchange via the dealer's representative. Your orders will be matched depending on market conditions and the volatility of the stock. You may check your orders status by clicking on the order status menu button. Can I revise an order?

Q9 Q10 Q11 Q12 Q13 You may revise a pending order that has not been matched in the market. A revision is only POSSIBLE for the QUANTITY of the order. To revise the price or to change to another stock, you will have to cancel the WHOLE order and submit a fresh order. Can I cancel an order? You may cancel a pending order as long as it is not matched in the market. If you are away from your computer and wish to cancel your order, you may call your dealer's representative to assist you. Otherwise, you may sign up for our apexmtrade facility, anywhere, anytime. What will happen to my unmatched orders at the end of a trading day? All unmatched orders for the day will expire at the end of that trading day. However, if it is a Good Till Date (GTD) order (this is a Standing Instruction, good till a certain date specified by the client), it will automatically re-queue at each trading session until it is matched, or when the instruction expired, rejected or failed. What happens if I submit an order after the market is closed? An order submitted after the close of the market is classified as a Standing Instruction. You may view and manage these standing instructions at the "Pending Instruction" screen. Your order will be queued for execution when the market opens on the next trading day. What is the maximum timeframe for a GTD order? You may place a GTD order for a maximum period of 30 calendar days from the day the order is submitted. However, if this Standing Instruction order is rejected or failed, it will NOT automatically re-queue at the next trading session. When this happens, you are advised to key in a fresh Instruction. In what situations would an order be considered unacceptable? An order will be considered unacceptable is any of the following situations: The stock quantity is less than or equal to zero The stock quantity has exceeded the maximum quantity allowed in a single trade The stock price is less than or equal to zero The stock price has exceeded the upper or lower price limit allowed The stock price is not in accordance with the price bid interval as provided by Bursa Malaysia The order date was submitted wrongly ie. backdating is not allowed The particular counter has been suspended You have exceeded your trading limit Your trading account has been suspended Your account has not been activated.

Q14 How do I keep track of my order status? The status of every order is tracked in the "Order Status" screen. Generally, there are 8 types of status Status Description 1. Pending Dealer Your order has been successfully submitted and is pending for execution by the dealer's representative. 2. Pending Exchange Your order has been successfully executed by the dealer's representative and is waiting for the order to be matched at the exchange. 3. Matched Your order has been matched at the exchange. 4. Partial Matched Your order has been partially matched, with the matched quantity shown. 5. Session Expired Your order has expired at the end of the session. 6. Cancelled Your original quantity ordered has been successfully cancelled. 7. Rejected Your order has been rejected. You may view the reason for rejection by moving your mouse pointer to "Rejected" status. 8. Fail BFE The Broker Front End (BFE) trading system has failed to execute the order to the exchange. For example, a request to cancel or revise an order was initiated but could not be processed because a matching process is in progress. Q15 Q16 Q17 Q18 Important tip: In order to view the updated status at any point in time, please refresh your screen by pressing F5 (Refresh shortcut key) How do I set up my stock portfolio in the system? The system will manage the portfolio for you. This portfolio will be automatically updated whenever a buy and/ or sell order has been matched. How do I view my historical data? All historical data may be viewed from the "Order Status" screen. Click on the History button from the respective "Order Status" screen (except "Pending Order" screen) and the historical data screen will pop up. All historical orders will be kept for approximately 3 months for the respective status. Orders that are older than 3 months will be archived at the end of the period. When do I need to settle my outstanding purchases? All outstanding purchases has to be settled before 12.30 pm on T+3. Will I be able to perform contra trades? Yes you can perform contra trades.

Yes, you may submit odd lots through www.apexetrade.com What are the transaction costs if I trade online? Brokerage Commission Contract value - up to (RM) Commission Rate (%) Internet orders >RM20,000 0.42% RM20,000 or below 0.48% Phone orders 0.60% Above RM100,000 Negotiable (minimum 0.30%) The above rates shall be applicable irrespective of the share price (ie. >RM1.00, <RM1.00 but >RM0.50 and share price <RM0.50) and inclusive of bonds and loan stocks. Minimum commission for loan stock transactions shall remain unchanged at RM2.00 and for other transactions shall remain at RM12.00 per contract. Clearing fee for On-Market of 0.04% of contract value Stamp duty of RM 1.00 for RM1,000 or fraction part of contract value Q22 Q23 What are the procedures to do Share Transfer if I have some Malaysia shares with a Singapore broker? Client is advised to give instruction to your existing broking house to transfer the shares to JF Apex Securities Berhad and cc a copy to JF Apex Securities Berhad, for the attention of Ms Jennifer Khoo or Cik Norezan. Please also indicate the contact person s (existing broking house) name and contact number. How do I withdraw the physical certificates of delisted counters? To withdraw the physical certificates of delisted counters, you need to:- 1. Duly complete in triplicates the Securities Withdrawal Request Form (FWT010) for each counter. 2. Form 32A with the transferee part duly completed. 3. Pay the following fees: a. Withdrawal fees of RM15 per 1000 shares or part thereof b. Stamp duty subject to the fees charged by the Stamping Office

Yes. You may do so. We issue SGD contract notes and you may bank in the SGD amount into our bank account with UOB Singapore. If I settle in SGD for my purchases in RM, what will the conversion rate be? The rate will be the closing mid-rate of the trade date. Can I check my outstanding position online? Yes, you may check your outstanding position by clicking on the Report menu and select Client Summary Note: Your outstanding position is the end of the day position of the previous day Q5 Can I view my contract notes online? Yes, you may view your contract notes by clicking on the Report menu and select econtract

You will be able to view both RM and SGD contract notes. Q6 Q7 Q8 Q9 Q10 Q11 Q12 Q13 Will I still be receiving the physical copy of my contract notes? Yes. Only SGD contract notes will be sent to your correspondence address in our record. SGD generated contract notes will be sent to you on the next working day following each transaction. When do I need to settle my contra loss? You will be required to settle the dues within five (5) business days following the date of contra, failing which interest shall be charged on the outstanding contra losses at the prevailing interest rate set by the company. When do I get my contra profits payment? Contra profit payment will be credited into your trading account on the 5 th market day following the date after deducting contra loss (es), outstanding interests and /or any other debit charges. When do I need to settle my outstanding purchases? In accordance to Bursa Malaysia s FDSS rules, all outstanding purchases has to be settled before 12.30 pm on T+3. When do I get my sales proceeds when I perform a sell? The sale proceeds will be credited into your trading account on T3 to give you a higher trading limit. Will dividend cheques be issued to me in my name? Under securitised account, all dividend cheques will be credited into your trading account with us Will I receive any monthly statement? Yes.. We will send you a monthly statement. How do I withdraw the cash in my account? To withdraw the cash in your trading account, you need to inform your designated dealer s representative via our toll free line 800-1860-080 or e-messaging or email to apexetrade@jfapex.com.my or onlinetrades@jfapex.com.my. Q13 Your dealer s representative will process the application and the funds will be online credited into your bank account in Singapore and if it is a Malaysian Bank account, we will bank in the funds into your Malaysian Bank account.. When will the funds be available in my bank account? The funds will be available in your Bank account within 24 hours.
