Claims Frequently Asked Questions Q. If a claim occurs how do we report the loss? A. Please report any claims or questions regarding coverage for a potential claim to The Guarantee - 24/7-1-888-998-1872. We will respond as if it would have been a property loss under the GUARANTEE GOLD policy. Q. Would my disappearing deductible apply if the loss exceeds $25,000 as included in my GUARANTEE GOLD policy? A. Where the total loss exceeds the $25,000 limit on a concurrent type claim (water damage caused by a failed hot water tank), the deductible will be waived. If the loss was a stand-alone boiler claim and there was no concurrent loss (no water damage), then the $1,000 deductible from the EB extension would apply.
Claims Frequently Asked Questions Q. What would the deductible be if the loss was below the disappearing deductible where the GUARANTEE GOLD Homeowners policy is $2,500 and the Equipment Breakdown Extension deductible is $1,000? Loss is water damage to building/contents from a failed hot water boiler system. A. The $2,500 deductible would apply to the total claim, and the deductible would be apportioned between the EB claim cost and the building/contents loss. Q. How will a claim for Equipment Breakdown affect my claims rating? A. Should a claim occur that involves equipment breakdown only and is not concurrent with a property claim covered by the GOLD wording, the claim will not be charged against the policy. Where an EB loss is concurrent with a property loss, the claim will be charged against the policy, as we presently do.
Underwriting & Claims Handling Recap: A Few Questions and Answers Q. If the amount of the adjusted loss including the deductible exceeds $25,000, would the deductible be waived? A. Yes Q. Would both deductibles apply in the event of a concurrent claim? A. No, only the higher deductible would apply Q. If the loss strictly pertains to Equipment Breakdown and not H/O or property, would the property deductible be applied if it is higher than the $1,000 EB endorsement deductible? A. No, only the $1,000 EB deductible would be applied Q. Would an equipment breakdown loss be covered if it was determined that the problem occurred prior to the policy being effective? A. Every claim is different, in general the loss needs to have happened after the policy effective date
