INSTALLING MALTED IN FROM SELF-RUNNING DVD This process will be described on the basis of Mozilla Firefox browser and Ubuntu, one of the most popular Linux distributions, but it can be applied to other browsers and distributions with small variations. 1) INSTALLING JAVA 1.1 Downloading Java Virtual Machine The first step consists of enabling the browser to tackle downloads and installations from Internet, for which it is necessary to install Java Virtual Machine from the software website (Picture 1). From there, we must select the self-extracting version (Picture 2). TO BEAR IN MIND: There are Ubuntu distributions that include a GNU Java version that will not be valid to run Malted. End of installation process 3) How to install Malted units independently In case of deciding to install new didactic units after the system first installation, it is not necessary or convenient to run Malted installer again. The unit installer, malted-installunidades.jar, can be run directly; it is placed in the DVD installer directory.
