Program Goal Competent leaders are characterized by their ability to act self-organized in complex, unpredictable and unforeseeable situations as a role model. This professional competence requires the individual s ability to acquire and assess knowledge and convert it into decisions and actions that win people to join a path of vision driven actions. Aiming for bringing about this type of competence in its graduates, the M.A./MBA combines management knowledge with managerial business practice and competence development. Management Project Every student is required to define a so-called Management Project. Management projects are real-world managerial topics through which the students acquire and to which the students apply managerial abilities and knowledge from the studies. Management projects need to be approved by SIBE. Permissible management projects fulfill the requirements to be: relevant for managerial practice o e.g. at the student s work place and/or for the student s concrete career development aim for measurable results o e.g. by contributing to the solution of an ongoing business challenge at the student s work place and/or in the field the student wants to build a career developed by using the tools and methods of management research o e.g. in form of field and desk researches, which show the student s ability to create selforganized relevant managerial benefit by means of management research Competence Development The M.A./MBA is guided by a continuous competence development process. The process uses competence assessments, which work on the positive assumption that every person has specific, individual competences. Identifying these personal competences and finding ways to utilize these for a future career development is the goal of the program s competence development. Methods and tools used in the process are competence assessments, competence goal setting & development, expert coaching, mentoring and peer consulting. Program Facts & Degrees The M.A./MBA is a program jointly organized by SIBE and its U.S.A. based partner school The Post University Malcolm Baldrige School of Business in Waterbury, Connecticut. Duration: 30 months net-studies o o Extendable by 1-2 months for writing of Master's Thesis The program plan considers periodic breaks to accommodate a the specific situation of adults with busy work schedules and private commitments
Language: English Format: Online Location: Online Degrees: Successful graduates obtain two academic degrees, which are independent from each other: Master of Arts in General Management (M.A.). The degree is recognized within Germany 1 and beyond, depending on the receiving country s pertinent legal norms 2. Master of Business Administration (MBA). The MBA degree is recognized within the United States of America 3 and beyond, depending on the receiving country s pertinent legal norms 4. Awarded Credits, Workload & Duration The M.A./MBA represents a total workload of 120 ECTS. This includes the required workload of 45 CRS to obtain the MBA degree from Post University. It consists of 16 modules, which are each organized in eight weeklong units. The average weekly workload equals approximately 7.5 hrs. of contact time on the platform in form of readings, preparations, discussions etc., which are complemented by self-organized project work and self-studies, depending on the individual student s level of effort. Second step: Once you decide to apply for the M.A./MBA, contact us at mamba@steinbeis-sibe.de and submit the following materials: Letter of motivation Resume University certificates (incl. university entrance qualification) Third step: We review your application material and verify if you fulfill the formal admission requirements. We inform you about the result. If you pass this step, you will be invited to an online conducted, comprehensive introduction to the program at the end of which you have the opportunity to personally ask questions. You are free to decide if you want to go on with your application or not. Fourth step: If you choose to further pursue participation in the program, you will be invited to SIBE s online conducted selection procedure, which consists of: An assessment of the your skills and program motivation The KODE -Test, which is a competence assessment An English test. Applicants receive notice about the result of the selection procedure speedily. Fifth step: After passing the selection procedure and before joining the program, the following legal documents need to be signed: An study contract A revocation instruction Graded Assignments All graded assignments in the are designed to be started and completed within one MOD, so that workload won t need to be carried from one MOD into another. The types of graded assignments are:
Papers: in which students apply knowledge e.g. to cases and real-world situations or describe their management project s research and development. Depending on the task, a study paper may be e.g. a 4-6 pages long reflection of a managerial topic or it may be e.g. a 20 pages long analysis of the management-project s current situation Student engagement: which is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of a student s contributions to discussions and engagement on the learning platform Assignments: tasks in which the students e.g. reflect or present topics on the platform Master s Thesis: a final cumulative paper about the management project Final exam: an online conducted, oral exam in which the students defend their Master s Thesis and show their cumulative understanding of management in regards to knowledge and skills acquired in the program Interactive Online@SIBE Three factors characterize the online learning: The is a 100% online and asynchronous study program. This means, that in order to pass the program, there are no mandatory webinars or exams, except from the online conducted final exam, for which the students have to be at a certain place at a defined time. The is a highly interactive program. Every student is required to join and contribute to ongoing assignments on the platform and discussions on the discussion boards. The real faculty visits the class frequently and regularly and assesses the students postings and contributions. They guide and give feedback where needed and can be contacted when needed. Per topic, a class has one professor. Student Support Students find the following support structure in the program: Academic Success Counselor (ASC): Each class has one defined ASC. An ASC is the one "go-to" person for each student in all personal and organizational matters. It is the ASC s role to provide administrative and organizational advice and support to all students in their goal to successfully graduate from the program with two degrees. Faculty: Professors in the M.A./MBA are business and teaching experienced professionals with teaching positions at SIBE and/or Post University. They the students contact partner for all questions regarding program content and academics. IT: Both, SIBE and Post University provide IT support for their learning platforms. Program Costs Monthly program tuition of 430.00; monthly seminar fees of 50.00 and monthly examination fees in the order of 50.00. All costs are payable in 34 monthly trenches, summing up to a total of 530.00 per month. The program does not require any traveling, so that no mandatory travel expenses occur. Costs for creating the needed technical requirements and re-taking MODs are not included. As a voluntary option, students can choose to participate in one of SIBE s or Post University s international study trips. Costs and conditions are not part of the fees. Legal Disclosure Study contract After passing the selection procedure and before joining the program, the following legal documents need to be signed: A revocation instruction A study contract Right of termination The student may terminate the study contract by giving initial notice of termination at the end of the first six months of the program, within a cancelation period of minimum six weeks, without giving reasons. After conclusion of the first half-year the student may give notice at any time within a cancelation period of three months. The students, SIBE s and Post University s right to terminate the contract for extraordinary cause remains unaffected. Consequences of revocation In the event of an effective revocation, the mutually received benefits are to be returned. You are obligated to payment of a compensation for the rendered services, if you were informed about this legal consequence before your contractual declaration and expressly agreed that we start providing services before the revocation deadline. A right to receive compensation may legally obligated you to fulfill the contractual commitment to pay for the period until the revocation deadline. The right to rescission expires in case both sides based on your explicit wish fulfilled the contract, before you exercised your right to rescission. Obligations to refund payments have to be fulfilled within 30 days. The time limit begins for you upon sending your revocation declaration, for us, upon its reception.
