Explorer and Dashboards continue to be supported products of the BI Portfolio, however they are not receiving any enhancements and Design Studio and Lumira have progressed to the point where they can do the majority of what Explorer and Dashboards can. In What Situations Should I Use Design Studio vs Lumira? Design Studio works natively with hierarchical data, while Lumira flattens hierarchies and works with recordsets. Design Studio supports custom planning applications but Lumira does not. Lumira is designed for use by business analysts and does not support a scripting language. Design Studio is designed to create sophisticated analytic applications and includes a scripting language. Can I Use Design Studio with Universes? Yes. Design Studio 1.6 now supports 20,000 rows of Universe data, and it natively supports aggregation.
