15 SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Performance Management 10.0 A BI perspective Accessing the Business Layer Data access must be through the application tier security, business rules and data signage are applied by the application Custom data providers are included to enable business layer access within the SAP BusinessObjects BI clients Designed for the Office of Finance The EPM applications include some BI out-of-the-box BI capabilities, however these are primarily geared for the Office of Finance. Multidimensional EPM data is presented in a hierarchical fashion. SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 provides many BI clients that support multidimensional data access SOLUTION TODAY

Web-based Ad-Hoc analysis tool designed for Power Users and Analysts Analysis for OLAP uses a custom connection for EPM to ensure EPM security and data structure is maintained Standard workspace design support including connecting to multiple data sources (ex. SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation and SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management) and slicing and dicing capabilities

29 SAP BusinessObjects BI platform integration Analysis for Office SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office data analysis ( slice and dice ) Why EPM Customers should use SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office? Excel-based analysis; Successor of BEx Analyzer BPC provides its OWN Excel Interface (EPM Add-In) that provides write-back support that is NOT available with Analysis for Office so customers will need to use the BPC Excel client regardless to input data to BPC Analysis for Office only supports BPC 10+ for Netweaver; It will not support other EPM solutions Analysis for Office and the EPM Add-In can be installed in the same Excel environment.

31 SAP BusinessObjects BI platform integration Predictive Analytics Predictive Analytics and EPM Predictive Analytics can be used to run algorithms against EPM data using the Semantic Layer connection. This will allow end users to identify outliers, perform set analysis, and predict forecasted values. The result of the Predictive Analytics can then be used within the EPM applications (e.g. to seed BPC plans). Today this is a manual process however future roadmap enhancements are exploring ways to automate this process.

33 SAP BusinessObjects BI platform integration Explorer and Visual Intelligence Explorer and Visual Intelligence and EPM By default Explorer does not support OLAP data, which includes EPM data, however at this time Explorer can be enabled to work with EPM 7.5 and EPM 10 solutions using the classic Universe (UNV) connection. Building Explorer on top of EPM data provides the user a rich interface to easily navigate the data and answer a multitude of questions at the speed of thought. This interface is also supported on mobile devices as well. Unfortunately at this time Visual Intelligence does NOT work with any OLAP data sources and should not be recommended as a tool on top of EPM data.
