Introduction The Smappee Pro is an energy monitor that measures the energy consumption of up to 9 circuits and can detect electrical appliances downstream of the circuit. A current sensor is clamped around the cable and records the energy use of that specific circuit. The sensor inputs can be configured for single phase or three phase and as a main load or a sub-load (i.e. fed from a main load). The sensor inputs can also be configured as an energy Production load (i.e. solar, wind turbine, etc). The Smappee Pro is installed close to or within the breaker panel. It then starts measuring your energy consumption and the yield of your solar panels as well as uploading that data to the Smappee cloud server. The Smappee Pro app gives you direct insight into your sites energy consumption, energy costs and the yield of your solar panels. The Smappee Pro web portal enables you to compare and contrast the energy data from different Smappee Pro units. Data can also be retrieved via API into 3rd party software solutions. This manual describes the installation of the Smappee Pro. All information about the connection of the Smappee Pro to your network, use of the App or the Smappee Pro web-portal can be found in the Smappee Pro User Manual. Page 2 / 9

Safety Instructions Safety Warning Working on your electrical installation can be dangerous. The Installation shall be done by a certified electrician. Safety precwautions Please observe the following safety precautions in order to avoid potential electrical shock, fire or personal injury: Do not use this product for any purpose other than for which it was intended. Do not open the equipment or touch any of its electronic circuitry. Do not attempt to repair or service any part of the Smappee Pro. Only use the cables which were delivered with the product. Do not use the product if damaged. Do not use damaged current clamp cables. Do not immerse the product in water, or any other liquids. Do not expose the product to heat, flame, steamy conditions or extreme cold. Do not open the equipment or touch any of its electronic circuitry. Maintenance Clean only the outside with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use abrasive agents or solvents. Installing the Smappee Pro The next sections describe how to install the Smappee Pro on your breaker panel. The instructions apply to 1-phase and 3-phase installations. 1. Locate the power in the distribution board. Find a suitable location to mount the Smappee Pro 2. Install the current transformers (CT) on the cables you wish the Smappee Pro to monitor. These can be main incoming cables, sub-feeds, feeds from solar (or other renewables). Please pay attention to the orientation of the current sensor when installed: The arrow (L) needs to point towards the load (i.e. direction of current flow). 3. Once the current sensors have been installed around the cables you should route them back to the Smappee Pro and connect the plugs into the relevant sockets on the Smappee Pro. Make a note of which load is being monitored by which current sensor. LAN CT connectors 4 > 9 CT4 CT5 CT6 CT7 CT8 CT9 4. The voltage reference and Smappee Pro power should now be connected. This depends on whether you are monitoring a single phase system or a 3 phase system and also whether you are powering the Smappee Pro from a separate voltage source or from the measurement circuit. Please note that the Smappee Pro auxiliary power circuit should not exceed 240V. Aux power and voltage measure terminals CT connectors 1 > 3 CT1 CT2 CT3 Page 4 / 9

All the connection examples above assume no separate aux power. If a separate aux power is used, then the shortcuts to L and N need to be removed and connected according to the aux power specification. 6. Once the current sensors and voltage wiring are all installed and connected according to local electrical regulations you are then ready to power the Smappee Pro up and use the App to configure it. After you have powered the Smappee Pro you should wait a few minutes for it to complete its boot cycle. When the LED on the top shows a Green slow pulsating it has completed its boot-up and has successfully connected, via DHCP, to the network. Other colours that the Smappee Pro can show are described below: Steady blue: device is starting or restarting. Note that the steady blue color will go off some time during the starting process and then comes back after a while. The starting process of a Smappee is around 2 minutes. Steady red: device is missing connectivity during startup with the internet. Probably the Ethernet cable is unplugged or there is a firewall issue that avoids the device connecting to the internet. Page 5 / 9

Blinking red: device was previously working fine but lost connectivity to the internet. Slow breathing green: device is working properly 7. Once the Smappee Pro is slowly pulsing green, start the Smappee App. Please ensure that your Smartphone/Tablet is on the same network as the Smappee Pro. Selecting Install will bring you to the following screen. 8. In the App go to Settings/Smappee/serial number/ At the bottom of the Smappee Connection Options page you will find the URL for the internal web pages of the Smappee Pro. You must be on the same network as the Smappee Pro to be able to browse to it s internal web-pages. Page 6 / 9

9. Using the URL for the Expert Mode you can now login to the internal webpages of the Smappee Pro to complete the configuration. Click on logon and use the default password: admin You should then have access to the entire menu. 10. In configuration check that the electrical configuration of the Smappee Pro is setup correctly and change it where needed. Monitor mode allows selecting some preset modes. However, in a complex or industrial application it is more common to select the use channels configuration menu mode which allows to freely configure the functionality of the 9 CT inputs in the channel configuration page. The configuration page also displays useful real-time information on the electrical parameters that the Smappee Pro is monitoring. A Cos fi (Power Factor) of less that 40% will show as yellow. Page 7 / 9

11. In the channel configuration page you can name the circuits that each current sensor is monitoring and select the appropriate Phase, Type and Connection. The Phase should correspond to the voltage phase that the current sensor is monitoring. The Type should determine whether the circuit is a Consumption load (i.e. using electricity) or Production (e.g. solar, wind turbine) whereby the electricity is being generated rather than consumed. The Connection determines whether the circuit being monitored is the main feed for the distribution board or a sub-load (i.e. fed from the main feed) or Off-grid (i.e. should be excluded from the total of the panel). 12. You should check once more the real-time electrical parameters in the configuration page to ensure the Smappee Pro is monitoring the electrical circuits correctly. Providing everything looks as it should, the Smappee Pro is now installed and configured. Page 8 / 9
