Charlotte, North Carolina, USA A man was murdered in his home during a robbery. Numerous witnesses described the clothing that the suspected robber was wearing, but not the individual. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested several suspects, but questions still persisted about who killed the victim and who was wearing which clothing. Prosecutors needed to connect one of the suspects to the identified clothing on the night of the murder. During the investigation, it was determined that the suspects were in a nearby convenience store an hour before the murder took place. Surveillance cameras at the store captured the suspects on tape, but the images were of poor quality and too dark to make a positive identification. Using Intergraph s Video Analyst System the images were deinterlaced, magnified, and brightened, clearly revealing the identified clothing and the suspect. Without this [video] evidence, we would not have been able to identify the triggerman. Detective Joel McNelly Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department 2
