3 o To Love and Be Loved: The Sacrament of Reconciliation. November 3, 2013. Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology sponsored the following: o Reverend W. Jerome Bracken, C.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Moral Theology, and Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Moral Theology, having been awarded a grant by the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion, conducted a day-long colloquium titled Toward a Wisdom of the Heart: A Pilot Program to Effect Cognitive and Affective Appropriation of Ethical and Moral Teaching in a Theological Seminary, in Seton Hall University s Chancellor s Suite, South Orange, NJ, on September 28, 2013. At the colloquium, ten professors, from institutions ranging in location from Boston to Washington, DC, shared and discussed ways of teaching that would have this two-fold effect. The professors represented The Catholic University of America, The Dominican House of Studies, Holy Apostles Seminary, Immaculate Conception Seminary, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, St Mary s Seminary and University and Mt. St. Mary s Seminary. Reverend Vincent Twomey, S.V.D., Visiting Scholar, gave concluding comments and observations. The fruits of this colloquium will be presented to the faculty at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology and through the publication of an article. o The International Challenge of World Youth Day: Evangelization and You! Lecture and conversation led by Reverend Monsignor Joseph R. Chapel, S.T.D., Assistant Spiritual Director for the Seminary; Associate Professor of Moral Theology; Co- Director, Institute for Christian Spirituality; and Director, Center for Diaconal Formation, as

4 part of the International Month Celebration at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, on October 21, 2013. o Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI on Politics. Lecture, presented by Reverend Vincent Twomey, S.V.D., Visiting Scholar, as part of the Archbishop Gerety Lecture Series, in the Seminary s Chapel of the Good Shepherd, South Orange, NJ, on October 23, 2013. II. Mission and Service Dianne M. Traflet, J.D. 88, S.T.D., Associate Dean; Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology; and Founder and Co-Director, Institute for Christian Spirituality, presented Nourishing a Love of Prayer in Ministry. Half-day workshop, as part of the Diocese of Trenton s CORE Theology curriculum for the diocesan certificate programs, at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, on October 4, 2013. Reverend W. Jerome Bracken, C.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Moral Theology, preached on the Scriptures and addressed, at St. John the Baptist Church, Hillsdale, NJ, on Respect Life Sunday, October 6, 2013, the Death with Dignity Act going through the New Jersey Legislature. Jeffrey L. Morrow, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Undergraduate Theology, presented Sacraments and the Life of Grace. Lecture, for parents of students in the CCD program at Assumption Parish, Roselle Park, NJ, on October 6, 2013. III. Publications Reverend Monsignor Raymond J. Kupke, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of Church History, published a book review of Shaping American Catholicism: Maryland and New York 1805-1915, by Robert Emmet Curran.
