Working with CECAS How to Log In to CECAS Training Site In your internet browser, go to the following IP address: training.nccecas.org/cecas Enter your User Id and Password and click the Log In button to launch the application. Once the CECAS application is launched, you will see the Main Menu on the left side of the screen. In the right upper corner you will see your name, the Help button to access Online Help, and the Log out button that closes the application. The arrows to the left of the folders indicate whether a folder is open or closed. A down facing arrow means the folder is closed or collapsed so you cannot see the options in that folder. expand the folder and see the choices. An up facing arrow means the folder is open or expanded and you can see the options in that folder. NOTE: CECAS is a web-based application that runs in your browser window. As you move around the application, use the navigation provided within the application rather than the Back and Forward buttons in your Internet browser. If you use the browser navigation buttons, you can see a message that the page cannot be displayed, or has expired, and instructing you to use the Refresh button on your browser toolbar. Maintaining Personal Settings in CECAS The My Settings screen contains the currently logged in user s name, demographic information and password. Some of the information can be changed, if necessary. New Users When you login for the first time as a new user, the My Settings screen automatically displays for users to change the randomly assigned password to a password of their choice. Ensure to save the new password. Working in the My Settings Screen 1. Click the My Settings link from the Main Menu. The My Settings screen displays basic information about the logged in user in the system. 2. The Type, User ID and Default Region/LEA/School are set when a new user is added into the system. Type can be edited in the User Detail screen, but the User ID and Default Region/LEA/School cannot. B2 - Working With CECAS 7.14.14 2
3. To change your password, enter the new password in the fields, Password and Confirm Password. 4. The Last Name and First Name fields are required. 5. The Title/Description and Address fields are available for entry, but are not required. 6. The Phone, Email and Email Format fields are required. 7. Any of the pre-populated fields can be modified. Once you are finished, click the Save button to save these settings. Click the Cancel button to exit from this screen without saving changes. Opening Online Help and Finding a Topic About Online Help Click the Help button in the top right corner next to the Log out button to open the Online Help in a separate browser window. option 3, then option 1 for CECAS 508 Compliant Help CECAS has two Help systems the Standard Help and 508 Compliant Help. When you click the Help button, the Standard Help system displays. These Help systems have identical content. The 508 Compliant Help is configured to work with screen readers and other assistive technologies. option 3, then option 1 for CECAS What is Section 508? Section 508 is part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requiring that Federal agencies develop, maintain, acquire, or use electronic and information technology to make the systems accessible to people with disabilities. most recent (1998) version of Section 508 establishes enforceable, government-wide standards, which are implemented in a 508 compliant version of the Help system, which can be accessed by clicking the 508 Compliant Help button located at the top of the Welcome to CECAS page. Working with Help This web-based on-line Help is structured like a multi-volume reference manual. The Table of Contents consists of a group of books and topics. The books are displayed on the left side of the Help window. The topics in each book contain information about a specific aspect of working with the application. The Hide Table of Contents hyperlink in the upper right corner closes the left pane that contains the Table of Contents to devote the entire window to the Help topic. Click the Show Table of Contents hyperlink to open the hidden left pane containing the Table of Contents again. Finding Help Topics There are three ways to search Help topics: 1. Click the Contents tab to display the list of books located on the left side of the Help window. When you click a book, a list of topics contained in the book displays below it. Click a topic to display it on the right side of the Help window. 2. Click the Index tab located on the left side of the Help window. The Index is similar to a book s index. When you type a keyword, a list of Help topics associated with that keyword appears below it. Click a topic to display it on the right side of the Help window. 3. Click the Search tab located on the left side of the Help window to search through the text of all Help topics for a word or words. To locate every occurrence of a word or phrase, type the word or phrase for which you want to search, and then press the Enter key.
