Introduction We hope you have enjoyed your time at Murano Street. To assist you in moving out of your residence we have produced this moving out guide. This guide is to remind you of your responsibilities for clearing and cleaning your room prior to departure, to avoid you paying possible additional charges for cleaning or damage. It is part of your Tenancy Agreement with the University that you do not leave your accommodation in an undesirable condition. If you do this, then you will be charged by Residential Services and this may impact on your ability to graduate or matriculate. Therefore, your co-operation is appreciated. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the future and hope you enjoy your summer. When do I need to vacate my room? You must vacate your room at 10am on the last day of your tenancy agreement please check your documents from the University to confirm this date. If you have any queries please contact reception. Please make sure your contact Residential Services if you require accommodation after your contract end date. 2
What do I have to do on or before departure? 1. KEYS Keys must be signed into reception at the Central Services Building on the day you are leaving. Please do not leave them in the door or with a friend. It is your responsibility to return keys. NB: Any keys or door entry fobs not returned will be charged to you via Residential Services once you have left your accommodation. Charges will also be made for room occupation after the informed departure time. 2. BICYCLES If you are extending your stay for next session you must contact the office to register and label your bike within 14 days of your original departure date otherwise the bike will be disposed of. Sanctuary Students will not accept responsibility for any bikes which are disposed of. ALL BIKES ARE LEFT AT YOUR OWN RISK. 3. RUBBISH Please dispose of ALL rubbish and unwanted items from your room in the bulk bins and skips adjacent to your building. Before disposing of your rubbish, ensure that it is in plastic bin bags and tied securely. All personal posters on notice boards must be removed. Please recycle any cans, plastic bottles, paper and magazines in the bins in the Murano Street Car Park. Electrical items must not be disposed of at any of the University of Glasgow facilities. Please reduce, re-use and recycle. Sanctuary Students and the University of Glasgow actively promote recycling and reuse throughout campus accommodation in order to reduce the amount of waste which is sent to landfill. A number of recycling bins are situated close to your block. Items to recycle: Plastic drinks bottles and milk bottles but PLEASE, remove the tops and place with the regular waste. NOT plastic bags. Newspapers and magazines can be placed in the recycling bins. Drinks and food cans can be recycled but please rinse them It is important that you follow the rules for recycling as any bins which are contaminated with even the smallest amount of inappropriate waste will mean that it is sent to landfill. May we remind you not to put plastic bags into any of the recycling containers as this will contaminate the contents which, again, will be sent to landfill. Please do not leave bags of rubbish on the bin store floors, tell reception if the bins are full. 3
