The members have played together for a long time before Defekt in bands like Laser, Kauhukakara and Heart of the Machine. Their own composed music is a delicate mixture of jazz, surf, pop and rock, where the saxophone and guitar sounds are expanded with the use of effects. The melodies are often simple and singable although underneath are often complicated dense rhythms and counter melodies, making the music both simple and complex at the same time. In February 2009, during the bands tour in the Nordic countries, they went into a studio in Finland. The recordings were then mixed in September and the debut album, Pete s game machine, will be released 1st of September 2010 followed by a tour in the Nordic countries. But she is also strongly associated with the impro scene of Beirut, where she has origins. The whole of Europe has now become her workplace, and she has made several returns to Sweden since her first visit with her lebanese group Moukhtabar Ensemble in September 2006. 25 nov Sarah Riedel + Mother Jack MOTHER JACK We are two. We are Mother Jack. Welcome into our imaginations. Come with us to a place where simple melodies wind through storytelling narratives, up over pulsating beats and dynamics that surprise, explore and exploit boundaries. We have combined the sounds of the double bass and vocals with glockenspiel, a drum, loop pedal, kazoo and more to create original compositions that challenge us, make us laugh and sometimes even make us cry. Each song is a journey. Where it takes us is unique and individual to each of us. Casey Moir (AU) Vocals and more; Johan Häggkvist Moir (SE) Double Bass and more Common Creature Their concept is as simple as: to tell a story. Second, to create a strong and personal feeling in every tune they play. This happens when they combine two strong and personal voices and a warm unique sound of acoustic bass guitar together, colouring the whole with some extra sounds there and there. Remaining the laughter and joy but not being afraid of the sad and bad feelings, keeping it real by going deep, saying things straight and out loud, searching and experimenting, being open, dancing, travelling, partying, raining and shining, and humming: "In the end you / need to rely on / that there is one thing / there is happiness." Sarah Riedel voc, extras Joonas Kuusisto bass, voc, extras 2 dec Pombo No concert is similar to another. Pombo could be jazz, or it can be pop.
