System administration Maps Maps are hierarchical (i.e., they are associated with a level). The following rules are applied to map hierarchies. Top level maps are the most general (ex: a map of a city). A top level map acts as a parent to subordinate level (level 1) maps. Level 1 maps could represent different libraries in the city. Level 1 maps act as a parent to level 2 maps, etc. All the RFID readers and associated lattices are placed on maps, therefore each location must have a map associated with it. Note: As maps are hierarchical, it is very important to realize that it is not possible to designate a different map as a top level map once the system architecture has been defined. To change a top level map after a system is defined, you must delete all the architecture and start over from scratch. You can also use the configuration wizard to reconfigure maps, controllers and lattices. See "Accessing the Configuration Wizard after installation is complete" in the Troubleshooting section of this guide. Creating a subordinate map To create a subordinate level (level 1 5) map, complete the following procedure. 1. On the main Administration tab, click Maps, then click Create a Map. 2.
