Counseling/School Psychology The doctoral program in counseling/school psychology is one of approximately 60 programs in the country fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. Highly selective, it is designed to prepare psychologists who can evaluate, enhance, and provide human services through scientific inquiry and practice. The counseling/school psychology program differs from other training programs, such as those in professional psychology and social work schools, in that our emphasis is on research: Students learn to make clinical decisions based on available evidence. The quality of the students is a major reason for the program s excellence; incoming classes generally average above 1200 on GRE verbal and quantitative sections. Students choose an area of concentration (e.g., school, grief, rehabilitation, family counseling or health psychology); they may also elect other concentrations.
