A2: OUTCOME AT THE END OF THE ACADEMIC SESSION 1. As usual, a sample group of 30 persons of different ages among the alumni & the parents was selected and was allowed to examine related information of the questionnaire. The analysis of opinions given by the various persons, about the infrastructure of the college, Programmes offered Sports events, Cultural events, etc., reveals good status. 2. As routine work an orientation programme was conducted for entire students of the Sl. No college during August, 2013. Many resource personalities were invited to the college on various junctures of the college to discuss about academic-related matters and general matters. As usual, the feedback from the students about the teachers, the course curriculum, library and other infrastructure of the college, and especially about starting PG Courses, was collected through questionnaire and the appropriate steps were taken to reform the situation. 4. The Self Appraisal Reports (SAR) of teachers were collected to recognize the facts of different activities and teaching practices of the faculties. 5. Lecturers conducted tests, seminars, group discussions and home assignments to accelerate the academic performance of the students. 6. The teaching staff members were permitted to take up research work in the areas of their interest & were also permitted to participate in various conferences, workshops and seminars conducted at various places. 7. 12 committees were formed to ensure efficient functioning of the college. 1. 9. NSS special camp was planned for Digging of drainage and plantation of saplings and reconstruction of 2 km Roads. Drainages were dug in two streets of sasalamari, reconstruction of 2 km road and around 200 saplings were planted during the camp. Two NSS volunteers Virupakshi pattar and Chand bee have got first prize in drama and singing at National Level Yuva Janotsva Programme organized by Gulbarga University, Kalburgi. One volunteer selected for University level RD camp during 2013-14. 10. Staff and NSS students along with NSS officer participated in AIDS awareness programme, Social forestry activities, blood donation programmes. 11. The proposal to start NCC unit in our college for the next academic year and proper steps have been taken. 12. A proposal for starting Digital library has been discussed 13. PART- B 1. Activities reflecting the Goals and Objectives of the Institution The goal of Government Degree College is to impart value based quality education to the students in a congenial atmosphere. Vision of the college is to provide good higher education to the eligible and interested youth of this Hyderabad-Karnataka region and to extend Government facilities to the students of the college. Mission of the college is to reinforce the academic performance of students and to ensure higher education opportunity for all interested eligible rural stream, so that the students are capable of tackling the challenges of life 1. As a routine task, the distinguished personalities were invited to the college on various occasions to discuss about the morals of students & Lecturers, significance of social responsibilities of a student, the rights & duties of students, etc. 2. Inter-college level seminars were arranged for the students of different colleges situated in this area during the month of December. 3. Welcome, Farewell and annual day gathering are arranged to create a sense of "living thoughtfully and creatively". 4. The college encourages the participation of students in national programmes, maintenance of hygiene, blood donation, Social forestry activities, etc in order to habituate social responsibilities among the students 7. Extra classes were taken on English grammar, Accountancy, Income tax, Cost accounting and Mathematics to improve academically weaker segment of the students. 8. 9. The reason for decreasing trend in the students admission was analyzed. It was because of 10 private degree colleges in Sindhanur. Moreover, during this academic year, the total number of students who passed PUC examination is More comparing to the last year. 23. Courses in which students' assessment of teachers is introduced and action taken on student's feedback. Assessment of teachers by the students is conducted every year for all the courses and reviewed by the concerned head of department and the principal. Based on this feedback, some guest teachers were suggested to improve their teaching abilities. 24. Health Services As usual, the college arranged blood group testing camp at free of cost for the students & staff with the help of local doctors. 33. Performance in Sports activities: Conducted Boy s Kabaddi inter college, Raichur zone, and university selection trials at our college campus on Oct 2013. 12 students participated at Raichur zone for boys at kanniskka college of Physical education yermarus. Cross country for boy s conducted at GFGC Chitaguppa on 19-09-2013. 3 students participated. University athletics held at GUG on Oct 2013 and 13 students participated. 34. Incentives to outstanding sports persons: Every year, the college provides amount for track shoes, Blazer, sports shoes are given to the students. Activities of guidance and counseling unit: The Career Guidance Cell of the College provides necessary information about the career to the students as and when the necessity arises. 39. Healthy practices: a. College has set up committees to monitor overall progress of the students & Organizes special lecturers on spirituality and morality. b. NSS Unit holds regular camps. c. Regular fresher day and farewell functions are arranged. d. Personality development programmes are arranged as a part of TQM for staff and students. e. The college encourages students to participate in various competitions. f. Staff members give cash prizes to the meritorious students. g. Students are encouraged to participate in various activities like blood donation, AIDS awareness programmes, and literacy campaigns, adult education, legal and environmental awareness, piles polio, preservation of Historical monuments. h. Remedial classes are conducted for slow learners, and SC / ST students. i. Extra classes on English Grammar & Mathematics are conducted for academically poor students. j. Library keeps open for longer time during examination days. Many books were given to meritorious students & out-station students allowed stay in college during examination. k.
