1. UUV-AUV-ROV-USV 1.1. UUV ( Unmanned Underwater Vehicle ) Unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV), are any vehicles that are able to operate underwater environment without a human occupant. These vehicles may be divided into two categories, Remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) and Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), which operate independently of direct human input.
2. AUV Target Environments & Usage Commercial: Petruleum, natural gas and mine explorations, pipelines, discovery and maintenance of coastal and offshore structures, fish breeding farms, exploration of sunken marine vehicles Military: Exploration, placement and detonation of mines, intelligence gathering tasks (scanning and hunting of existing ships, during the operations various challenges arise due to the depth and maneuvering limitations) Scientific: Archeology, Geology, Oceanography and underwater sampling and data gathering, pursue and measurement tasks for a number of science branches
3. AUVTECH Project Team We are proud of being the first participant to AUVSI Foundation and ONR s International RoboSub Competition on 17-22 July 2012 from Turkey, competing as AUVHTECH project team. Besides we are hopefully to accomplish missions particularly related to the defence sector. Project Coordinators Advisor/Instructor Team Coach Team Captain Prof. Kadir SARIÖZ Assoc. 4. Our Projects Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Underwater and surface mixed type ocean vehicles
5. Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Our first project was initiated on Oct 9, 2011 to attend the Robosub 2012 competition.
Design of AUV with CATIA We think that we are the first CATIA user team of the competition, considering the design of AUV when literature and other particapant teams are examined Advantages of CATIA offered by us Strong modeling Integration with Fluent Preparation part and extract code for CNC Preparation mold
Concept of the Competition The 15th competition will be held this year as part of the annual event held in July in Sandiego, the United States. The competition will be held in the experimental pool belonging to SPAWAR, meanwhile a sponsor of the event. The main conductor of the event is AUVSI federation and is mainly sponsored by ONR.

6. Scope of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Design process of the vehicle have been successfully completed which can accomplish tasks representing the realistic civil and military operational fields specified by AUVSI and consulted with organizations from different backgrounds. Designed Vehicle can be studied under the sections listed as below ; Mechanics Electronics Control Software
7. Project Outputs Deriving the full control modeling for the AUV with 6 DOF To maintain the navigation of vehicle in severe environment such as under the water with the help of IMU, depth sensor and passive sonar To accomplish the mechanical and electronic design of a robotic arm capable of successfully completing sensitive underwater tasks. To maintain freedom of arbiter for the underwater vehicle based on gathered data from signal processing and sensor units, independent of any operator, and applying the consequent decisions The project once achieved, can be used in; Bottom of sea and lakes for mapping purposes Determining navigating paths for underwater gas pipelines Researches by scientists in underwater studies Underwater SOS and rescue operations Additionally, firms and universities conducting researches on AUV or ROV for military and commercial fields, can use this project as a reference in their studies.
8. Our Demands and Expectations Seabotix BTD150 thrusters ( x6) Xsense MTi imu Hydrophones (x4) High Precision Calculation System Investor partners for our remaining projects
9. Results and Recommendations Autonomous vehicles, due to their extensive characteristics and capabilities, have become a crucial aspect in the modern combat fields. Carrying a strategic significance, these vehicles development and productions in a national level is vitally important. Our country mainly surrounded by water from 3 sides, increasingly feels the demand for an autonomous underwater vehicle. In addition to civil applications, the interest and research of military requirements towards the autonomous underwater vehicles have increased. As the AUVTECH team, in addition to representing our country in the best way during the attending competitions, we are at the stage of development to address the needs from civil and military sectors by our designed systems. Supported by the President of Istanbul Technical University, our team along with the entire researching activities in the past and in the future, which will soon gain the focus all around Turkey, expects any kind of capital and moral support from you as well as your recommendations and advices.
