A National Competency Standard exists to ensure that all accredited coaches will teach to the same standard. Students should contact an appropriate coach and supply their details (qualifications, charges, etc.) to the Equine Studies Coordinator at the University by the beginning of the week of semester. The School of Animal Studies will pay a subsidy towards the lessons. Full details are contained in your Course Profile. Students need to own or hire a horse and pay for any associated costs with the lessons. Recognition of prior learning If you feel that you already possess the required practical skills, you may apply for recognition of prior learning. An accredited coach must test your competency. Once the School has been notified of a successful result, you may apply for an exemption from the practical component of the program. Contacts If you have any questions or concerns, please contact: Equine Studies Coordinator on (07) 5460 151. 37
